Play For P.I.N.K. 2025

optional
The Colleton River Community continued its tradition of generosity and
commitment to breast cancer research at this year’s Play for P.I.N.K. (Prevention,
Immediate Diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) week of events. Together, we
raised over $128,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Whether you love racquet sports, bocce, group games like Canasta, poker,
mahjong and bingo or wanted to put on your walking shoes to Walk the Links or
enjoy a day shopping in downtown Bluffton, Play for P.I.N.K. week included
activities for everyone.
Highlights of our 20th anniversary celebration included:
- Golf - Although the weather did not co-operate with us to hold our annual golf tournament, we started the week with a fun Golf Happy Hour featuring Transfusion cocktails compliments of Tito’s.
- Tennis and Pickleball featured plenty of food and fun with themed raffles and silent auctions.
- Walk the Links - The Dye golf course was a sea of pink! The addition of a Photo Competition added to the festivities. Congratulations to the Walkie Talkies for their winning photos.
- Poker continued to be a fan favorite. Ladies continued their winning streak with Sue Bishop taking the pot this year.
- Canasta and Mahjong brought ladies together for an enjoyable afternoon of cards, tiles and camaraderie. Three lucky participants won a raffle prize for a complimentary Signature HydraFacial compliments of sponsor Lux, A Medical Spa.
- Pink Flamingo Bingo had a record 82 participants and 59 prizes. Hosts Mark Stephens and Jeff Tracy brought the fun adding trivia challenges and “Dead or Alive” games.
- Bocce returned this year after being rained-out last year. Congratulations to winners Tracy and Ed Cupoli.
- Shopping in downtown Bluffton provided special discounts, promotions and refreshments compliments of many local merchants.
- The 50/50 Raffle raised over $2,100 and awarded 10 lucky winners a share of the jackpot.
The week ended with a 20th Anniversary Cocktail Party and Silent Auction. The
auction featured 37 items including member donations of artwork, photography,
culinary events, golf, boating, sporting event tickets, a custom golf cart blanket
and flowers. Other auction items included fine jewelry and luxury vacations.
A special thanks to the Whit Group for organizing a golf tournament and lunch to
benefit Play for P.I.N.K.
Play for P.I.N.K. week would not be possible without the dedication and
contributions of committee leads, pink angel volunteers and the Colleton River
Management and Staff.

Things To Know….
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world. One in 8
women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. And in the U.S.,
every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. The only way to
eradicate this disease is through research. Our commitment is to donate 100% of
the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Foundation supports
over 260 scientists working diligently to fight the disease and they are making
progress. Since 1989, breast cancer deaths have decreased by 44%. More
treatments have been developed in the last decade than in the previous three
decades combined. Since 2016, 17 new treatments have been approved by the
FDA. Funding breast cancer research boosts chances for treating other cancers as
well. One example is the discovery of Herceptin for the treatment of HER2+
breast cancer. Herceptin is now also being used to treat HER2+ esophageal and
metastatic gastric cancers. That is the power of research!
We remain deeply grateful to the entire Colleton River Family of Members,
Management and staff who came together in support of this important cause.
Thank you for your commitment and for entrusting us with your philanthropy.
