In 1989, I made the life changing decision to leave my home country in search of freedom, a better future, and a life filled with promise for my family. Arriving alone in America, I faced the daunting challenge of not speaking English. Simple tasks, like asking for directions when I got lost, felt overwhelming. Yet, my determination to realize the American dream became my guiding light.

I set my sights on obtaining my acupuncture license in a limited timeframe, dedicating every ounce of my time and energy to my studies. My situation was difficult: I could rarely find odd jobs, often subsisted on just one meal a day, rented the cheapest accommodation, and had barely $100 to my name. During those six months of exam preparation, I frequently called my parents in China to connect with them. Yet, I only ever heard my father’s voice. He often told me my mother was unwell, sleeping, or in the hospital, making it difficult for her to talk. Each conversation ended with the lingering disappointment of not speaking to her. When I finally passed my licensing exam and shared the joyous news with my father, my heart shattered days later when I received a thick envelope filled with photos from my mother’s funeral. A talented gynecologist, she had suffered a sudden cerebral hemorrhage after performing a demanding surgery. My father had chosen to shield me from this heartbreaking news, allowing me to focus on my studies. My parents' sacrifice became a powerful motivator for me to honor their hopes and dreams.  

A few years later, just as I was beginning to establish my practice, tragedy struck again: my first husband died in a car accident. Suddenly, I found myself navigating the dual roles of mother and father to our ten-year-old daughter. The challenges were immense, but my determination to create a better life for us both kept me moving forward. My daughter, wise beyond her years, has been a silent source of strength, supporting me through it all as we faced our new reality together.

My parents, both dedicated doctors, have always been my greatest inspiration. Their unwavering commitment to helping others has profoundly shaped my values and career path. Growing up, I witnessed their tireless work and compassion, whether it was staying late to care for patients or offering comfort to those in need. Their passion for healing instilled in me a deep respect for the medical profession and a desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Their example serves as a constant reminder of the importance of empathy, dedication, and the power of caring for others, guiding me as I strive to carry on their legacy in my own practice.

My passion for acupuncture stems from a deep desire to help others find relief from pain and improve their quality of life. Witnessing the transformative power of this ancient practice inspires me every day. Each patient’s journey is unique, and I am dedicated to understanding their individual challenges and tailoring treatments to meet their specific needs. The ability to alleviate discomfort, restore balance, and promote healing is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I can empower my patients to reclaim their health and live more fulfilling lives fuels my commitment to this work. Every successful treatment reinforces my belief in acupuncture’s potential to bring comfort and healing, and I am honored to be part of that process.
