Noah Landrey - Crestmoor's Rising Tennis Star

At just 14 years old, Kent Denver freshman Noah Landrey is already making a name for himself on the tennis court—one powerful serve and determined sprint at a time. A Crestmoor resident since 2018, Noah has grown up in the neighborhood’s vibrant and active community, where easy access to the pools and tennis courts helped spark what has now become a deep passion for his sport.

Noah first picked up a racquet at age 10 at the Crestmoor Pool and Tennis Club. Surrounded by friends who also loved the game, he quickly found himself immersed in Junior Team Tennis and the club’s annual championships. A tough loss in his first Club Championships lit a competitive fire in him. “I knew after being badly beaten that I wanted to get better and win the following year,” Noah recalls—and he did exactly that. With year-round training and USTA matches under his belt, Noah’s dedication steadily transformed him into one of the area’s rising young players.

This fall marked a defining milestone: Noah earned a spot on the Kent Denver Varsity Boys Tennis Team, playing Doubles 2 alongside his partner Jake, a fellow neighborhood athlete from Hilltop. For Noah, the season was more than just competition—“The team bonding and camaraderie made my freshman year start incredibly special,” he says.
Their hard work paid off in a major way. Noah and Jake captured the CHSAA State Championship title for Doubles 2 and were honored as CHSAA First Team All State—the only freshmen to receive the distinction. “Winning the title in Pueblo was an amazing moment,” Noah shares. It was validation for years of early morning practices, offseason tournaments, and the unwavering support of family, coaches, and friends.

Balancing academics with a varsity tennis schedule wasn’t always easy. Noah missed classes for matches and spent many late nights catching up on homework, but he kept his priorities straight. “Put schoolwork first, but having balance by being part of a community involving sports is also important,” he advises. And his efforts have paid off—his grades remain excellent.

On court, Noah has learned lessons that extend far beyond tennis. His biggest takeaway? “You can’t control everything—your opponent, the umpiring, the conditions. Focus on your controllables.” It’s a mindset shared by his tennis idol, Carlos Alcaraz. Noah had the chance to see him play in the Wimbledon quarterfinals last summer—a highlight he says he’ll never forget.

Looking ahead, Noah is excited for Kent Denver’s move up to the 5A CHSAA division next season, where he’ll face tougher competition and new opportunities to grow. His goals include moving up to the Doubles 1 position and eventually competing in Singles as an upperclassman. Off the court, he’s already dreaming about studying engineering in college and exploring where that path may lead.

For other young athletes around Crestmoor, Noah keeps his advice simple but powerful:
“Hard work leads to results. Keep practicing and you will see improvement.”

With his drive, humility, and passion, Noah Landrey is not only a standout athlete but an inspiring example of what dedication can achieve. We can’t wait to see where his journey takes him next.
