The Love Family

Sharing the Neighborhood Spirit

When Dr. Sheri Love and her husband John moved to the Crestview area in early 2020, they had no idea the world was about to change. They had purchased a villa in Crestview Villas that February—just weeks before the shutdown—and instead of settling in gently, they spent those early pandemic months remodeling. “We gutted our villa and remodeled it before we moved in officially,” Sheri recalls with a laugh. They finally moved in that June, stepping into a home that was not only new to them, but beautifully transformed.

Today, the Loves are firmly rooted in the neighborhood, raising their four children—Dara (25), Anna (24), Gray (22), and Tatum (20)—and embracing the rhythm of a community they have come to deeply appreciate. “I really love the type of people that are in the neighborhood,” Sheri says. “It’s pretty laid-back. It’s not fussy. It’s just comfortable. Wonderful people that help their neighbors.”

Drawn to the East Side
Before landing in Crestview, the family lived in Stonebridge—also on the east side of Wichita—so the location already felt like home. But there was something undeniably special about Crestview. “We really like the east side,” Sheri explains. “And we really like being on the golf course. It’s pretty nice having that in my backyard.”

It wasn’t only the scenery. Many of their close friends lived nearby, and staying close to those
relationships mattered. “I didn’t want to move far away from them,” she says. For a family with adult children spread out across several cities—including one in San Antonio for medical school—community and connection have become an anchor.

After living in Crestview for several years now, that appreciation has only deepened. “Location, location, location,” Sheri says. “Our community is wonderful. Our neighbors are wonderful. I love being on a golf course. I can’t imagine living anywhere else, really.”

A Family on the Move
While Crestview is home, the Loves’ lives are spread across several locations. They have a home in Kansas City and a place at the Lake of the Ozarks, and they travel frequently to visit their daughter in Texas. “Home is basically three different places for us at this point,” Sheri says. “And Crestview happens to be one of them.”

When they are home, free time looks like something many families can relate to: enjoying moments together, visiting their various homes, and playing with Baylor—their beloved Bernedoodle. “She’s wonderful, of course,” Sheri says. “As all pets are, aren’t they?”

Why Crestview Works
When asked what she’d tell someone considering a move to the neighborhood, Sheri doesn’t hesitate. Walkability ranks at the top. “I like the proximity to great places to walk. I like to take three- or four-mile walks, and you have the trail and beautiful neighborhoods to walk in and out of. It’s pretty level, and the homes are beautiful.”

Schools and convenience also matter, especially with a family that has been part of the Andover
community for many years. Three of their children attended Andover schools, while Dara graduated from East High’s IB program. “I like that we’re in Andover schools but close to Wichita,” she says. “It’s centrally located with access to multiple grocery stores, different schools, and the airport is close. No traffic. Even though we’re on the east side, it’s 20 minutes to the airport.”

She adds another key benefit with enthusiasm: “Costco. Costco is another reason to live on the east side of town.”

A Life of Service and Connection
Professionally, Sheri has deep roots in the area. She opened Love Dentistry from scratch in 2014 and remains grateful for the success it has brought. “I’ve been very blessed. God has been very good to me in my practice,” she says. John is a partner in a concrete chemical company based in Kansas City called SpecChem, which keeps him connected to that community while still able to easily come home on weekends.

Beyond work and family, Sheri’s passion for giving back runs deep. She loves the feel of a smaller community within a larger city and the ability to support local causes personally. “I’m a big supporter of HopeNet—they do wonderful things for our community—and a big supporter of Faith Builders,” she says. “If I lived in a bigger city, I wouldn’t be able to be connected to those philanthropies as closely.”

She also cherishes the faith-based connections she has built over two decades. “I love being in a smaller town because it’s easy to get connected to Bible studies and make friendships. I’ve been in one for 20 years, and she lives close by in the Crestview area too.”

Another very big reason for the Love family’s thankfulness for the neighborhood is the outpouring of support that came after a serious accident involving Tatum.

“In August 2024, Tatum was crushed by a car and lost her left leg,” Sheri remembers. “She spent eight days in a coma and 110 days in the hospital. But through it all, we had so much support from the community. She received more than 200 cards and letters from supporters. That has meant a lot to us. We would not have made it through without these prayers and letters.”

A Sweet Spot in a Busy World
For Sheri, Crestview offers the best of all worlds—a community that feels both peaceful and connected. As she puts it, “I think Andover and the east side of Wichita is really a sweet little home in the midst of a pretty crazy world. It feels safe.”

For the Love family, it truly is the perfect place to land.
