How long has your family lived in the neighborhood? What do you like most about living here?
We have lived here 6 years. We love DI because of all the wonderful community (people, pets, kids) and all the great businesses in the shopping district.
Tell us about Memphis!
Memphis is 8 years old, and he is a Goldador.
When and how did your pet come to join your family?
We got Memphis as a rescue from Trooper's Treasures in Chattanooga, TN.
Is there a story behind your pet’s name? How did you and your family come up with it?
My hometown is Memphis, TN, so that is how he got his name.
What's the one trait or behavior that makes your pet stand out from the rest?
Memphis likes to visit schools, assisted living facilities (Hudson Manor on DI), and goes with me on horseback rides in Thonotosassa, where I board our horses Dakotah and Halo.
Does your pet have any unique talents or tricks?
Memphis has been on PBS TV in Chattanooga and in Tampa at WEDU PBS. He learned to bark on command with a hand signal for his television appearances.
Does your pet have any favorite toys or treats?
Memphis loves all toys (especially his stuffed flamingo), and his favorite treat is Dentastix.
Tell us about your favorite memory with your pet.
We have been visiting Florida State Parks, and Memphis has accompanied us to eight so far, with many more trips planned!
Where does your pet love to hang out in the neighborhood? Who are your pet's favorite playmates in the neighborhood?
Memphis likes to go everywhere with us on Davis Islands, and he loves going to Truist Bank on Platt Street, where he rolls over in the lobby for all the employees to give him belly rubs!
Are there any local businesses or parks your pet particularly enjoys visiting?
DI Coffee bar, Margaritas restaurant, WAG and DI cleaners, where Phyllis always has treats for him.
If your pet could choose any adventure to go on, what would it be?
He loves going to the barn on horseback rides and swimming in the creek there.
