It's all about Harry (AKA "Harrison the Commodore").
Harry is an 8 year-old purebred golden retriever with an English cream coat. Harry resides in Dorset with his mom, Cookie, and Dad, Gerard, and Franklin (a feline ball of long orange hair). He was born in Schoharie County, New York on June 20, 2018 and was one of a litter of 10. Harry was truly the biggest and most handsome of the group, making him the pick of the litter. However, not without a quirk, Harry has always gone outside and then he waits for the door to be opened, closed, and once again opened to enter. He never follows in on the initial opening. It’s Harry’s way!
He joined us at 10 weeks old and took over our hearts and our home. Harry got right on a leash and has never stopped “walking us”. We are regulars on Wind Hill Road throughout all the seasons, enduring the good, the bad, and the ugly weather conditions. We know every canine and resident on Wind Hill by name thanks to Harry. His best friend is Archie - a young, beautiful puppy who was new to his home. Archie followed us all the way to our home via Morse Hill Road. We did eventually find his family on Wind Hill Road.
From Long Island, New York to Vermont, Harry quickly acclimated and is a true snow dog. Every inch of snow gets Harry’s attention and provides him with such fun. Forget the tennis balls. Snowballs are the BEST! Well, almost as good as the bears. On a sunny spring day, Harry took off running in curious pursuit of a bear. Later, Mr. Bear passed by our deck, attracted by the delicious aroma from the barbeque. It immediately got Harry’s attention once again and away he went. This time there was a confrontation with big cries, barks and less familiar sounds. One “hero” eventually appeared. Harry looked bewildered, but there was no blood or injuries. The bear has not been back. Now, as the days get longer and spring arrives, Harry will focus on the speedy little chipmunks that dart in and out of the stone walls to tease him. They are too fast, but with a lot of determination, this may be Harry’s year! Life is wonderful in Dorset for a dog from New York.
