For Marty and Carol Martinson, moving to Eaglebrooke just one year ago was the beginning of a new chapter—and one they have embraced wholeheartedly.

Originally from opposite sides of the country, Carol grew up in Butler, Pennsylvania, while Marty is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. Their paths eventually led them to Florida, where they built a life centered around family, education, community involvement, and making lasting memories together.

Today, they enjoy life on Island Lake Lane with their beloved pets, Baby the dog and Tiny the cat, while soaking in one of their favorite parts of Eaglebrooke—the breathtaking views from their backyard.

"Our favorite part of this neighborhood is the beautiful views from our very own backyard," Carol shares. "It looks like we are on vacation every day!"

The Martinson's are no strangers to staying active and involved. Marty works as a truck broker and enjoys spending his free time on the golf course, while Carol serves as a Professor of English at Polk State College. When she's not teaching, Carol enjoys reading, walking, and watching movies, with favorites including Dead Poet's Society and Good Will Hunting.

Giving back to the community is an important part of their lives. Marty supports local causes by participating in fundraising golf tournaments. Carol's commitment to service extends into her classroom, where she incorporates meaningful community-based learning opportunities for her students.

One of her projects partners with residents of Presbyterian Apartments, where students prepare meals, serve lunch, and spend time interviewing and visiting with senior citizens throughout the semester. Students then use those experiences as inspiration for writing assignments that celebrate the stories and wisdom of their senior partners.

Carol also works with Cardinal Equipment Services, where her English Composition students help bridge communication gaps between Spanish-speaking employees and English-speaking management through tutoring and language support.

Family remains at the center of everything for the Martinson's. Their children may be grown, but they continue to make them incredibly proud.

Their daughter, Savanna, serves in the United States Air Force alongside her husband, Seth. Together they are raising their daughter, Charlotte, lovingly known as Charli.

Their daughter Allison recently earned her master's degree from the University of South Florida and now works as a linguist for ReDefiners World Languages Organization in Tampa.

Their son Mack is pursuing a degree in Business Information Technology at Polk State College and is on track to graduate in December 2026.

Like many families, the Martinson's cherish the traditions that keep everyone connected. Every Christmas Eve, family members receive matching pajamas—a tradition started by Marty's mother that continues today. Birthdays begin with a special gift waiting at the end of each family member's bed, and annual trips to the Florida Keys and Pennsylvania provide treasured opportunities to spend time together.

When they're not traveling, you can often find them enjoying some of their favorite local spots, including The Club at Eaglebrooke, GrillSmith, Bonefish Grill, and Harry's. They also enjoy visiting Christina Park and Loyce Harper Park with Baby and Tiny.

Whether they're spending time with family, supporting community causes, enjoying a round of golf, or simply taking in the beautiful scenery from their backyard, the Martinson's embody what makes Eaglebrooke such a special place to call home.
