Where / why did you get your pet? Luna came from the Polk County Bully Project.  Her name was Espresso when I met her.  I volunteered to help with the 2nd annual Putts Fore Mutts Golf Tournament in April, and my job was to help with the puppies that day available for adoption.   I was not looking to adopt a puppy, it just happened.  She was the only puppy left in her litter that wasn’t adopted. When the tournament was over, I kept thinking of her all alone wondering where her siblings went and why no one wanted to give her a home.  I got home and was telling my husband about the tournament and the last little puppy of the litter that wasn’t adopted.  He said call and go get her.  I called and someone else that had volunteered that day also felt bad for her being alone and decided to foster her.  I was happy she had a place to go.  Well, the very next day I received a call saying that she was in fact available that it did not work out with the foster’s other pet.  We headed to the Bully Project and even though it was supposed to be a foster for the night we knew she was ours forever.

Is there a story behind the pet's name: My husband and I could not agree on a name for this little girl but didn’t feel Espresso fit her.  I was driving home with her one night and looked at the moon, then I looked at her and said Luna!  When I got home, he loved it too.

Anything special or unusual about them: We have had Luna just a little over a month, but she is so loved and I know she already loves us back.  She is so very cuddly when she is tired but like a goofy baby shark when she is awake.  She loves to chew on fingers and ankles.  Run zoomies in the yard or the house and play ball and tug of war.  Once she is fully vaccinated, we plan to take her everywhere with us that we can.  She will go on her first family beach vacation this summer and see the beach for the first time.

What do you like best about your pet: The first few hours at her new home she ran into the sliding glass door and got stung by a wasp.  She is getting more vocal and comfortable with her routine and is growing every day.

What else should we know about your pet: We lost our boy Jasper a year ago to cancer and I told family and friends that I was ready for another but not a puppy.  Puppies are hard work, but Luna is worth it and deserves the best life.  I could not imagine her not being our girl.  She has brought so much happiness and laughter to our home just by being her precious, silly little self.
