A Home Built on Family, Friends, and Fresh Bread
When you visit the home of Josh and Jessica in The Highlands at Forest Ridge, you will likely find a lively scene with teenage boys coming and going, four dogs nearby, music playing, and the smell of fresh sourdough bread baking. For this family of four, life in the neighborhood has become exactly what they hoped, a place filled with community, friendship, and activity.
Josh and Jessica’s story began long before they arrived in Broken Arrow. Jessica was born in Los Angeles and moved to Tucson, Arizona at age 12. Josh was born and raised in Tucson, and the two met on the second day of high school. Their friendship grew into a lasting love. Both later attended the University of Arizona, graduating in 2005. Josh earned a degree in Civil Engineering, and Jessica earned a degree in Nursing.
Their sons, Jacob, 15, and Ben, 12, were both born in Tucson. In 2017, the family relocated to Broken Arrow when Josh was recruited to work at QuikTrip’s corporate office and is currently the head of engineering. He had previously consulted for the company and now plays a key role in store development. The family has made their home in The Highlands and will celebrate nine years in the community this January.
Life at home is rarely quiet, and the family enjoys the activity which generally revolves around sports. Between practices, games, and training sessions, the family spends plenty of time on the go. Jacob currently pole vaults for Broken Arrow and has developed a strong passion for the sport. “We love NFL, college football, and University of Arizona basketball. Once football season starts, we are locked in and follow most teams and players. We are also big fans of Broken Arrow football and love supporting our ‘third son,’ Joseph Williams, who made the varsity team as a freshman.”
The Highlands neighborhood is central to their daily life. The boys can walk to school, explore with friends, and spend summer afternoons fishing in the ponds with Josh. Jessica enjoys walking the trails, and the family enjoys the outdoors whenever possible.
Neighborhood traditions are another highlight. The family looks forward to their street’s Fourth of July celebration, and Halloween is always a favorite as they hand out candy to children. Over time, their street has become close-knit, with neighbors feeling like extended family.
Service and volunteering are important to the Potters. Josh volunteers with Band of Brothers at the Tulsa Boys Home and has spent seven years coaching youth soccer. Through QuikTrip, he has participated in community initiatives, including coordinating the Day of Caring and volunteering with United Way.
Jessica’s nursing career has included work as a flight nurse and an oncology nurse. She continues volunteering at BattleCreek Church, helping care for infants on Sundays and joining the medical team at a week-long youth camp in Piedmont, Missouri, helping more than 1,100 teenagers each summer. This will be her third year at the camp.
In recent years, Jessica discovered a passion for sourdough baking. What began as a hobby quickly grew. After baking more bread than her family could eat, she began giving loaves to teachers, delivery drivers, the mail carrier, and neighbors. “People’s faces would light up when they saw the bread,” she says. “So I just kept baking.”
Today the hobby has become a microbakery run from her home. With a commercial oven in the dining room, Jessica bakes weekly for family and neighbors and hosts two public sales each month for Forest Ridge residents. Word spread quickly, and she has never needed advertising. In 2026, she hopes to add muffins and cookies alongside sourdough loaves.
Despite busy schedules, the family values simple moments together, relaxing on the couch with their dogs, watching the evening news, or streaming favorite shows. They enjoy series like Yellowstone and Landman, and movies such as Top Gun remain favorites.
Travel is another passion. Hawaii is a favorite destination, along with lake trips for outdoor fun. Travel in 2025 was limited due to health challenges Jessica faced, but the family looks forward to new adventures in 2026.
The Potter home has also become a gathering place for friends and teammates. Jessica enjoys feeding a house full of teenagers, saying it sometimes feels like they have several adopted sons. That sense of openness and community is exactly why the family loves living in The Highlands. Whether sharing sourdough, cheering on local athletes, walking neighborhood trails, or enjoying a quiet evening, the Potters have found what they were looking for. For them, Forest Ridge is more than a neighborhood. It is home.
