Forest Ridge Neighbors Break Records with Annual Food Drive
What began in 2012 as a small act of kindness by a local Sunday School class, and fellow
neighbors, has grown into one of Broken Arrow’s most beloved and impactful neighborhood traditions. The annual Forest Ridge Food Drive for Broken Arrow Neighbors has become a beacon of generosity, uniting neighbors, fostering community pride, and helping to feed families across the area!
Now championed by our very own Broken Arrow Varsity Tigettes pom squad, the drive has
evolved into a large-scale neighborhood eKort. With their signature energy and commitment, the Tigettes take the lead each year, dropping oK donation bags door-to-door and then returning to collect them, rain or shine.
This year, on Saturday, June 14th, they showed just how deep that dedication runs. As heavy rain poured down, the Tigettes braved the horrid weather and visited each home in Forest Ridge, retrieving bags filled with non-perishable food and pantry staples left on front porches by our generous neighbors. Their effort, and the community’s incredible response, led to a new record: 3,210 pounds of food donated to Broken Arrow Neighbors, surpassing the 2022 total of 2,309 pounds.
“This is more than a food drive, it’s a testament to what happens when a community comes together with purpose,” said Megan Quickle, Executive Director of Broken Arrow Neighbors.
“Every can, every box, every porch pickup represents hope and dignity for a family in need.” With Forest Ridge being one of the largest neighborhoods in Broken Arrow, the impact of this event is far-reaching. Donations from this annual drive stock the shelves of BA Neighbors’ Choice Curbside Pantry program during one of the busiest times of the year, summer, when kids are out of school and family resources are truly stretched.
From its humble beginnings to a rain-soaked display of commitment and compassion, the
Forest Ridge Tigettes Food Drive continues to radiate the best of Broken Arrow. We are
deeply grateful to the Tigettes, to our neighbors and families of Forest Ridge, and to every
person who played a part in making this year’s drive the most successful yet! If you would
