Meet Rachel: The Therapy Dog-in-Training (Sort Of)

Rachel is the four-legged member of the Haar household, and she definitely keeps life interesting. Part Great Pyrenees and part Pit Bull, she’s a unique mix of snuggle and sass.
Andrew and Kimberly adopted Rachel seven years ago when she was just a year old. By the time she landed in their home, she had already been rehomed several times and had cycled through three different names - Harley, then Sammy, and finally Rachel. After all the changes in her young life, Kimberly didn’t have the heart to change her name again. Rachel it was. (Although when she gets into trouble, it’s definitely “Rachel Rae!”)
They probably should have known they were in for a wild ride when the foster family placed a bottle of prescription Xanax on the counter - with Rachel’s name on it. But by then, it was too late, they were already in love.
Rachel considers herself the emotional support dog of the house, though her “support” can be a little chaotic at times. She thinks she’s a lapdog, climbs onto beds like a queen, and cuddles like it’s her calling in life. She may occasionally bring stress instead of calm, but she is undeniably adored.
Her favorite activity is dragging her humans on walks around Forest Ridge. If you’ve seen Andrew and Kimberly being pulled down the trail, it was probably her. She is not a dog who heels. She is a dog with opinions.
Rachel is spoiled, sweet, slightly dramatic, and the heartbeat of the Haar home. She’s brought joy, laughter, and love in ways only a rescue dog with a few quirks can.
