Daisy Marie
The Catahoula Who Brings Laughter and Love to the Meyer Family
Ryan and Teresa Meyer’s home in Louisiana is full of joy and laughter, all thanks to their beloved 10-year-old Catahoula, Daisy Marie. The couple first found Daisy in 2014, when they were living in Louisiana. After discovering her through a breeder’s Facebook page in Fort Worth, Texas, they knew she was meant to be a part of their family. As the state dog of Louisiana, a Catahoula was a fitting choice for their new home.
A Name that Just Fits
When it came to naming their new puppy, Ryan and Teresa didn’t have an elaborate story behind it. “We just played the name game,” Ryan explains. “Daisy Marie just fit.” And so, Daisy she became, a name that perfectly suits her playful and loving nature.
A Herding, Snuggling, Peanut Butter-Loving Pup
From day one, Daisy’s personality has shone through in all the best ways. A natural herder, she loves to corral everyone—humans and animals alike. Whether it's organizing the family or keeping her younger brother, Garth, in line, Daisy’s herding instincts are always at play. She also has a "black belt in snuggling," Ryan jokes, always ready for some close cuddles.
One of Daisy’s biggest weaknesses? Peanut butter. “She will do anything for a taste,” Ryan laughs. Though she pretends not to like Garth, Daisy has developed a deep bond with him over the past three years, proving she’s just as affectionate with her furry brother as she is with her human family.
What Makes Daisy Special?
What Ryan and Teresa love most about Daisy are her striking blue eyes. "She has the prettiest blue eyes, second only to my wife," Ryan says with a smile. These beautiful eyes reflect the gentle, loving spirit that Daisy brings to their lives every day.
Daisy is also known for her impeccable timing. One memorable moment was when, as a young puppy, she discovered how to knock over an unattended beer to take a drink. The mystery was solved when Teresa picked her up, and Daisy let out a well-timed burp right in her face. “Yes, she’s a classy girl,” Ryan jokes.
Daisy’s comedic timing doesn’t stop there. She has a knack for sighing at the most opportune moments, especially when Ryan expresses his love for Teresa. On one occasion, Daisy even pretended to gag, prompting a burst of laughter from the family. “She’s a daddy’s girl,” Ryan adds fondly.
Loved, Not Spoiled
Ryan insists that Daisy isn’t spoiled, just very loved. And it’s clear that Daisy has enriched the Meyer family with her humor, warmth, and unwavering affection. From her comforting snuggles to her mischievous antics, Daisy’s personality brings endless joy to their home. As Ryan puts it, “She loves hard and loves a lot”—and it’s evident that Daisy has brought an immeasurable amount of happiness to their family.
