Some of life’s sweetest memories come with a cake in the middle of the table. For Amanda Hughes, creating those cakes has become much more than a hobby. Through Batter Up Custom Cakes, Amanda gets to be part of birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduations and the many milestones that bring families and friends together.

Amanda’s journey began years ago as a stay-at-home mom with four children. She loved making cakes for birthdays and family celebrations, and as more people began asking her to create cakes for their special occasions, she realized she could turn something she loved into a business. After spending several years decorating cakes in a Tulsa bakery, Amanda returned to running her home bakery five years ago, giving her the flexibility to spend more time with her family while continuing to serve her community.

What makes Batter Up Custom Cakes special is the personal touch Amanda brings to every order. Each cake and batch of decorated sugar cookies is designed specifically for the client, with no cookie-cutter designs. She works one-on-one with customers to create something that feels personal to their celebration.

For Amanda, the relationships are just as meaningful as the finished creations. Many of her customers have become friends, returning year after year as their families celebrate new milestones.

A Broken Arrow native, Amanda has lived in The Highlands for nearly six years. She and her husband, Jason, have been married for 26 years and have four children. When she’s not baking, she enjoys gardening, reading, traveling, spending time with family and cheering on the Chicago Cubs.

Through it all, Amanda’s goal remains simple: to make every celebration a little sweeter.
