I play for the NTX Vipers Basketball Program, and for the Sacred Heart Tigers
Have you met anyone famous in this sport/activity?
My grandfather, Rick Villarreal, was a collegiate athletic director and my dad played college football, so I have been blessed to meet a number of famous athletes. A favorite was when I met Devin Harrison one summer at Mavericks Summer Camp hosted by Liberty Christian. I beat him in a game of knockout. It was pretty awesome.
Have you traveled anywhere related to this sport/activity?
I have traveled to a number of basketball tournaments throughout the state which I have played. As a spectator I recently traveled to South Bend, Indiana to see the Irish and to Kyle Field to see the Aggies.
What events have you participated in?
Spurs invitational in San Antonio, The NCTC Holiday Classic and out Sacred Heart teams have advanced to bi-district and regional events.
What awards or honors have you won?
Individual awards are rare…most of my belong to my whole team. I was honored to get the ICCS MVP Award for Basketball at our 8th Grade Awards Ceremony. It meant a lot that it came from Coach Rocha.
What have you learned from participating in this sport/activity?
Sports have taught me discipline, dedication and consistency.
What is your favorite moment?
I was one of two freshmen selected to play varsity this year. Playing with all the seniors as a freshman on senior night was one of my favorite moments.
What do you plan on doing after graduating?
I plan to attend Texas A&M University and study Business and Sports Management.
One tip for someone looking to get into this sport/activity.
Do not dwell on the last bad play. Work the problem and do better the next time.
