Albatross Indoor Golf
Shane Ritch and Alicia McDaniel can’t get enough of the game of golf. While Alicia picked up the game in recent years, it’s been Shane’s passion since high school, so much so that he once considered building a custom golf simulator for his home. When that proved unrealistic, he did the next best thing: He teamed up with Alicia to share their passion for golf with the community.
The result is Albatross Indoor Golf, a veteran and first-responder-owned, premier indoor golf facility where golf enthusiasts of all experience levels can play, relax, and discover a new way to enjoy the game they love. The best part is that Albatross Indoor Golf is now open and comes complete with hourly bay rentals, a diverse selection of golf courses, performance feedback from in-person coaches, and various other services.
“Denton has a strong community of golfers but very few options for them to play the game they love,” Alicia said. She and Shane opened the facility in July. “With so many golfers and so little competition, it felt like the perfect opportunity to offer something new.”
Shane agreed, adding, “It’s incredibly rewarding to do something we’re passionate about every day.”
Albatross’ state-of-the-art golf simulators transport participants to some of the world’s most prestigious courses, offering a true-to-life golfing experience with actual golf balls so that you can challenge yourself on the same greens and fairways that host the Masters or the Open Championship. But it’s not just about the traditional game; these simulators also offer a variety of fun and engaging golf games suitable for all skill levels. So, whether you're playing with family, watching a game or tournament, or enjoying a movie while you play, they’ve designed the space to cater to all of it. They even have a clubhouse with a pool, ping pong, and foosball table.
For the serious golfer, Albatross also has a team of professional golf instructors (Joel Van Der Sloot and Terry Davidson) who use advanced technology and personalized coaching methods to assess your current skills and pinpoint areas for improvement, whether it’s perfecting your swing, enhancing your putting, or mastering your strategy on the course.
“It’s all about hospitality and making our guests feel comfortable and at home, whether they’re here for a quick game or to spend the afternoon hanging out,” Alicia said. “While many indoor golf facilities focus heavily on training and practice, we wanted to build something versatile—an experience beyond golf.”
Shane and Alicia said while the idea for Albatross Indoor Golf started with a fledgling idea to build a golf simulator in his home, the over-arching goal was to create something that could be passed down to their respective kids as a long-term legacy. They truly believe in the adage that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.
Therefore, Albatross truly is a labor of love—and a dream come true.
“It’s a premium golf experience, and we are grateful for the ability to provide this facility for the Denton County golf community,” he said.
