Family member names: Robert, Stacy, Jackson, Grace & Noelle
Pet’s name: Angel Fire Rose
Type of animal/breed: Sheepadoodle
Male or female: Female Spayed
Pet’s age:7
Where/why did you get your pet?
I’ve always loved poodles, I grew up with one. They are incredibly bright and affectionate dogs. As children, we had a neighbor that breed Old English Sheepdogs, and we absolutely loved playing with them. They looked like black and white teddy bears as puppies. So adorable and always good natured. I thought what a beautiful combination and at the time a little unusual. Plus, we were interested in the non-shedding aspect. Doodles in general were becoming popular, and I remembered those beautiful Old English Sheepdogs. We receive so much joy from our furry friends; we decided the next dog would be a working dog in the community. So early on, we started training her for service.
Is there a story behind its name?
Angel Fire Rose is named after one of our favorite towns in New Mexico. Angel shares time between Forrestridge and our cabin in northern New Mexico. She absolutely LOVES the mountain life!
Anything special or unusual about them (talents/quirks)? Angel completed Dog Obedience Certification, Canine Good Citizen Certification and finally completed extensive training to become a registered and insured Therapy Dog with Golden Triangle Therapy Pals. Angel visited hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries and behavioral health facilities. Always able to bring a smile to someone’s face. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had.
Angel was also an unofficial Subaru Pet Ambassador for Huffines Subaru Corinth where she appeared in all types of social media productions for the dealership.
What do you like best about your pet? I’ve had dogs all my life, but never have I had one that loves to cuddle the way Angel does.
Any funny stories? Weirdest thing she does is spy on our neighbors through the slats in the fence. We catch her all the time with her eyeball right between the boards monitoring all their activities!
How spoiled is your pet? Positively ruined! She is retired from service work, and her training has gone completely out the window. But that girl, I’m telling you, can still work a room and rival Dale Carnegie at winning new friends and influencing people.
What else should we know about your pet and/or how your pet has enriched your home/family?
Dogs bring an immeasurable amount of joy to our daily lives. The love we pour into them is returned in spades! As people, we have busy lives with places to go, things to do, and others to see. As pet owners, YOU are their entire world. For Angel, her world is as big as we can make it. Live large and love them well! We never get to keep them long enough.
