Profession(s): Michael is an Assistant District Attorney for the Denton County District Attorney’s Office, Maggie is a Registered Nurse at THR Denton and she is also a Registered Dietitian.

 

Activities/Hobbies: As a family, we enjoy cooking meals at home and try to eat as many meals together as we can.  We love to bake fresh breads, cakes, and cookies as well. Many evenings, we are attending school events at McMath Middle School, Denton High School or Denton Bible.  Michael and Maggie enjoy walking Ainsley in the neighborhood, and Maggie enjoys playing tennis at The Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center.  

 

Park/Play Area/Hang Out: at home or Southridge Pool in the summer time

Restaurants: Mellow Mushroom, Beth Marie’s, HTeaO, Frilly’s

Vacation Destination: We enjoy annual trips to Muskegon, MI and Tucson, AZ.

 

Sports Teams: Denton High School, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Dallas Cowboys, and Detroit Lions

TV Show/Movie: We usually are watching sports at home.

 

Family Dinner: Everyone has their own favorite but it ranges from steak and lobster to tacos to breakfast for dinner.

 

Do you have any family traditions?  A few years ago, we brought corndogs to a few kids during trick-or-treating on the streets of Forrestridge.  That has blossomed into driving the “Corndog Truck” every year to the mass of kids awaiting our arrival.  This year we gave out 60 corndogs! We spend every Christmas attending the dance production, “Emma”, which Claire dances in.  And, of course, we always drive through the neighborhood admiring everyone’s Christmas decorations.  During Easter, we make hot cross buns.

 

What college/university did you attend? Michael received a B.A. from Texas State University and then graduated from law school at Texas Tech University.  Maggie has a B.S. in Nutrition from the University of Arizona, an M.S. in Nutrition from Texas Tech University, and her BSN from The University of Texas at Arlington.

 

Where are you originally from? Maggie is originally from Tucson, AZ and Michael grew up in Alvord, TX.  Maggie and Michael met in Lubbock where they both attended Texas Tech University.  

 

 

How long have you lived in this neighborhood? We moved here in 2011.

 

 

What do you like to do to relax? We love walking the beautiful neighborhood with our sweet dog Ainsley.

 

How are you involved in the community?

 Maggie and Michael serve on the DHS Tennis Booster club and Michael serves on the Denton County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).

 

If you have kids, what activities are they involved with?

 

Claire dances 15+ hours with Denton Dance Conservatory and dances on their company competition team as well. She also plays the oboe in the McMath Middle School band. Caroline plays bassoon, flute, and bari sax at McMath. She also likes to bake and cook. Topher loves tennis, and plays on the Varsity team at Denton High School. He also plays the violin in the orchestra.  Katherine has spent many years swimming in the TWU Adapted PE program.

 

What is your favorite part about living in your neighborhood? We’ve always loved the shady trees and hilly roads to walk on.  We love the annual Wishbone Waddle on Thanksgiving morning.  We have great neighbors, and our kids have many friends here.
