Where/why did you get your pet?
Both came from Linda McNatt Shelter.
Is there a story behind its name?
Leonard was named by the shelter, and Abby, who was 8 at the time, refused to change it because she thought he already knew his name.
Mimi was originally named “Snowball” because she was almost solid white. She got a few weeks older as we fostered her and Snowball was no longer fitting. Marci chose the name Misty because she was white with shadows of many other colors. That even got shortened to Mimi which is what finally stuck with her.
Anything special or unusual about them (talents/quirks)?
Leonard is the best snuggler, and couch potato. He was supposed to be full grown when we adopted him at 7lbs. He is now actually full grown and is a big boy at about 17lbs.
Mimi is a very talented climber and door opener! She figured out she could jump up, hang onto the door handle to pull it down, and then swing her weight to open all the doors in the house. She also lives to be up high in the windows, so she will climb just about anything to get there.
What do you like best about your pet?
We had never owned cats before these two. They have been really fun. They have a great balance of playing, snuggling, and even catching any insect that dares to enter the house!
Any funny stories?
Mimi loves to boss everyone around. I have never heard a cat that makes so many different sounds. From sweet purrs, to barking when she wants you to do something. She really talks!
Leonard will follow Abby around as much as possible. He truly knows she is the one that picked him and has chosen her back.
How spoiled is your pet?
Super spoiled! They get regular and wet food every day, a water fountain, treats, and plenty of toys and play time.
What else should we know about your pet and/or how your pet has enriched your home/family?
Both cats came to us from the McNatt Shelter. Leonard was on hold because he had an injured shoulder. He wasn’t healing properly and they released him to us at no charge. Outside of the shelter he healed very quickly! Don’t be scared of the injured animals at the shelter, give them a chance!
Mimi was a foster because this baby weighed just 3 oz when she arrived there and was losing weight fast. We took her in with the understanding she may not make it. But she instantly gulped down her food and grew to 3 lbs. within just a few weeks. Before we knew it, we adopted her. She and Leonard are becoming fast friends, and we could not think of breaking them up.
