Gohlke Pools

Businesses come and go. That’s often the reality for small, family-owned and operated establishments built from the ground up on hard work, good business sense, stellar customer service, and a commitment to leaving behind a legacy that spans generations.

But if there is one company that’s going to stand the test of time, it’s Gohlke Pools.

Would you believe Gohlke Pools has been around for 68 years? The company was founded by the late Gene Gohlke, who spotted an opportunity straight out of college. The concrete company he worked for was searching for creative ways to increase sales, and in Denton, backyard pools were all the rage. Gene ultimately built one of the city’s first residential pools. More importantly, he discovered a real passion for his work, laying the foundation for a family-owned business that has since become a pioneer in family backyard living.

“We try to keep it pretty simple: Put out a quality product and take care of our customers. A quality product means a happy customer, and we’ve been fortunate that they keep coming back to us,” GM Nick Day said. “We try to be a one-stop shop for everything a pool owner needs, and our goal is to keep serving this community for another 68 years.”

He added, “We’ve always been family-owned and operated. And we want to keep it that way.”

For the Gohlkes, that’s always been the easy part.

Gene’s son, Matt, joined the family business, Gohlke Pool Supply, in 1984 upon graduating from Texas Christian University. In 1985, Matt & Gene formed a partnership, Gohlke Custom Pools, to resume pool construction. Two years later, Gohlke Pools (Gohlke Pool Supply and Gohlke Custom Pools) moved to 615 Dallas Drive.

In 1992, Matt purchased Gohlke Pool Supply and the remaining 50% of Gohlke Custom Pools from his father.

In the Spring of 2003, all three divisions (construction, retail, & service) moved to 909 Dallas Drive, where they are still located today.

By his side are his sons, Connor and Grant. Nick, who has held numerous roles, has been with the company for 26 years. That continuity and depth of experience have allowed Gohlke Pools to hone its craft over generations, specializing in every stage of pool ownership—from design and construction to renovations, ongoing service, and support.

More than pools, they do hot tubs, swim spas, patios, decks, outdoor kitchens, and more.

Whether you have an existing swimming pool or your backyard is a blank slate, they can create it all.

“It really is all of the above,” Nick added. “And we still take care of just a small portion. There are roughly 40,000 residential pools in Denton County, and we would love to meet more of those wonderful pool owners. What we do speaks for itself, and we plan to be here for a very long time.”
