Meet Moose

Family member names: Toby, Jessica, Charlie, Claire and Aubrey
Pet’s name: Moose
Type of animal/breed: Golden Retriever
Male or female:  Male
Pet’s age: 7

Where/why did you get your pet?  Jessica grew up with a Golden and loved his warm and docile personality.  We found Brame Golden Retrievers in Oklahoma and drove there to get Moose.

Is there a story behind its name?  Aubrey heard the name in a movie and suggested it

Anything special or unusual about them (talents/quirks)? Neighbors often see Moose "walking himself" around the neighborhood, as he insists on holding the
end of his own leash in his mouth during walks. Other than this charming quirk, he is the most gloriously laid-back dog around.

What do you like best about your pet? While we still love that he’s both mellow and social, what we’ve come to appreciate most is how he demands to be a part of our daily routine. The older he gets, the more vocal he becomes about missing out. As a result, he is a regular participant in morning garage workouts with friends, attends the weekly Forrestridge Bible discussion, and joins us for golf cart rides, trick-or-treating, and playing hide-and-seek with our nephews.

Any funny stories?  Grandma came to watch the kids and Moose once when we were traveling. Knowing that Moose’s main love language is going for a walk, Grandma decided to venture out on one. However, after getting the leash on, she worried he might make her fall and instead just walked him out into the backyard. To her dismay, when they came back inside, Moose found the new toy she had brought him and tore it to pieces—a reaction that is very uncharacteristic of him. As she recounted the story, we informed her that "pump-faking" Moose with a walk is like thinking you’ve won the lottery and then finding out you haven't! He was definitely registering his displeasure!

How spoiled is your pet?  Medium to low on the spoil scale, but greatly loved.

What else should we know about your pet and/or how your pet has enriched your home/family?  Moose enriches our home with enough fur to keep us warm in winter, but most importantly, he just makes every day better
