Name: Isla Day

Sport/Activity: Dance 
How long have you participated in this sport/activity?
I have been dancing since I was 3 years old.  I study the Vaganova style of ballet, pointe, modern, and jazz. 
What is your favorite teacher/mentor’s name?  My favorite teachers and mentors are Mr. Eldar Valiev and Ms. Reece Domingue.
Where do you normally practice? Denton Ballet Academy.  I also study dance at school as an elective.
Are you on a team? I’m in Level 6 ballet at Denton Ballet Academy.
Have you traveled anywhere related to this sport/activity?  
I have attended summer intensives throughout the DFW area.  I was accepted into the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City.  I plan to attend the Kilgore Rangerettes and Apache Belles dance camps this summer.
What events have you participated in?  
I participate in the Festival Ballet of North Central Texas, The Nutcracker.  This past season, I earned my first soloist role as Cat Doll.  I completed my 8th year participating in The Nutcracker.
What have you learned from participating in this sport/activity?  
Participating in ballet has taught me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of consistent practice. It has helped me grow not only as a dancer, but as a person.  In addition, it has taught me how to set goals, accept corrections, and continually work
