Mayfield Moments

  • Mayfield middle and high schoolers took part in an inspiring Women in Manufacturing event, exploring career paths and leadership opportunities in NE Ohio’s manufacturing industry. Students were able to network, ask questions, and engage with female leaders from local manufacturing companies, including MUM Industries, Lincoln Electric, Swagelok, and Omni Systems.
  • Excel TECC students put on an outstanding performance at the SkillsUSA Ohio Sates Leadership and Skills Conference against over 4,000 student competitors. The Excel TECC program competed with its largest team yet, with 62 students across 7 programs and 10 high schools. 55 Excel Tecc competitors placed in the top 10 and the team brought home 34 medals, including 8 bronze, 14 silver, and 12 gold!
  • Mayfield hosted career technical education leaders from across the state at the Innovation Center to share first hand how the district’s Excel TECC programs are providing high-quality career and technical education to students.
  • Mayfield also hosted educators from Cleveland, Geneva, Newton Falls, Missouri, and Alabama to share information on Mayfield’s Portrait of a Graduate: From Mission to Modalities. Educators were able to learn more about the portrait, and the district’s mindset of “Start with Yes.” Superintendent Dr. Michael Barnes told participants, “Start with Yes” is more than just a phrase—it’s a mindset that empowers Mayfield students and teachers to approach learning, challenges, and growth with openness, optimism, and action. The mindset is rooted in the idea that possibilities expand when we lead with affirmation instead of hesitation.”
  • Congratulations to the Center and Mayfield Middle School students who competed in the 2025 Pennsylvania State Chess Championship-West, bringing home both team and individual trophies!
