The Clem Family Playbook

From busy sidelines to back-porch evenings, the Clem family has found their perfect rhythm in Glen Oaks.

Between sports practices, neighborhood walks, travel adventures, and evenings spent gathered on the back porch, the Clem family has found the perfect balance of busy and connected life in Glen Oaks. Carly and Steve Clem, along with their sons Miles and Miller, have built a home centered around community, family traditions, and making lasting memories.
Rooted in Family and Community
Carly and Steve met 18 years ago through a mutual friend during an annual New Year’s Eve trip to Chicago, and today they’re raising two active, sports-loving boys in Glen Oaks. Miles, 13, is a seventh grader at North Oldham Middle School, where he plays basketball and football and competes in AAU basketball with Ambition. Younger brother Miller, 11, attends Goshen Elementary and stays equally busy playing basketball at school and AAU basketball for Indiana Elite.  He also plays football and runs cross country. By summer, the brothers will both be attending North Oldham Middle School together.
The family moved to Glen Oaks in 2014, drawn by the welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community. Steve, originally from Cincinnati, works in analytics at Cigna, while Carly, a Bardstown native, is a Senior Managing Director and Partner with Jackson Physician Search, where she recruits physicians for healthcare organizations nationwide.
Even with packed schedules, the Clems make time to enjoy the neighborhood lifestyle that first drew them here. Steve spends time golfing at Glen Oaks, Carly treasures her monthly book club gatherings, and the family loves spending summer days at the pool. Their home’s back porch has also become a favorite gathering place. “It becomes our living space for about nine months out of the year,” Carly shared. “There’s nothing better than ending the day out there with a glass of wine and a fire going.”
Adventure-Seeking Travelers
If there’s one thing the Clem family loves almost as much as sports, it’s travel. Their adventures often blend city exploration with outdoor experiences, creating trips that are both exciting and relaxing. The family has visited national parks across the country, including the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and most recently, Joshua Tree. Southern Utah remains one of their favorite destinations, with hiking and outdoor adventure topping the itinerary.
Their travel philosophy is simple: make memories while the kids are still young enough to enjoy them together. “We really try to live by the mindset that you only get one life, so we want to experience as much of it as we can,” Carly said. “We want our boys to see different places, try new things, and create meaningful experiences together.”
One of their favorite traditions is spending summers near Seaside, Florida, and heading to Rosemary Beach each fall. According to Carly, their annual fall break trip often turns into a reunion with more than 75 friends, many of them fellow Glen Oaks families. When Carly and Steve steal away for their own travels, they’ve had opportunities to explore destinations around the world through Carly’s President’s Club incentive trips, including Ireland, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Paris, and London.
Living the Glen Oaks Lifestyle
Despite their love of travel, the Clem’s say there’s nowhere they’d rather call home than Glen Oaks and Oldham County. Carly describes herself as an avid walker, joking that daily walks are her version of free therapy. It’s during those walks that she’s reminded why their neighborhood is so special. “One of my favorite things about where we live is how easy it is for our kids to just walk out the door and be at a friend’s house in seconds,” she said. “There’s always someone outside or nearby.”
That sense of connection extends beyond their immediate family. Carly currently serves as Chair of the Oldham County Board of Education, where she helps lead major district initiatives, including facility improvements, staff investments, and the future Oldham County Arts Center.
Whether they’re cheering from the sidelines at a football game, enjoying dinner with friends, relaxing poolside, or simply taking an evening stroll through the neighborhood, the Clem family fully embraces the Glen Oaks lifestyle. “We truly live and breathe Glen Oaks and Oldham County,” Carly said. “There’s honestly nowhere else we’d rather be raising our boys and doing life.”
