Lola Latte & Louie Pierre Steal Hearts in Glenmary

These playful half-sibling Moyen poodles have brought joy, laughter, neighborhood friendships, and endless love to their Glenmary family.

For many families, pets become much more than animals living in the home — they become beloved companions, loyal friends, and cherished members of the family. That is certainly true for Lola Latte and Louie Pierre, two adorable moyen poodles who have completely captured the hearts of their owners since joining the family.

Lola, age five, and Louie, age three, came from Great Lakes Poodles, a breeder located in Traverse City, Michigan, that specializes in moyen poodles. Moyen poodles are somewhat unique because they fall perfectly between miniature and standard poodles in size. They offer all the intelligence, athleticism, and personality of a standard poodle, but in a slightly smaller, more manageable package.

Lola joined the family in May of 2021, and Louie followed two years later in July of 2023. The two are actually half siblings and share the same mother, making their bond even more special. From the moment they arrived home, their owners knew they were not simply pets, but lifelong family members.
“There was never any question,” their owner shared. “Once we made the investment in Lola and later with Louie, we knew they would become part of our family forever. They absolutely have. We deeply love them. Even though they can be needy, demanding, and often control much of our lives, we wouldn’t trade them for the world.”

Both poodles have personalities as distinctive as their names. Lola’s full name, Lady Lola Latte, suits her perfectly. Her beautiful apricot coloring reminded her owner of a creamy latte, but it is more than just her appearance that earned her such a regal name. Lola carries herself with elegance and confidence, especially when she is showing off her signature “poodle strut.”

“She is very regal when she wants to be,” her owner explained. “She walks almost like a thoroughbred horse when she is showing off. She is definitely a lady and has a very no-nonsense personality, but she also has a playful side when she chooses to show it.”

Louie Pierre, on the other hand, brings a completely different energy to the household. While Lola tends to be poised and sophisticated, Louie is the entertainer of the family. Her husband simply liked the name Louie, but it quickly became obvious that it suited him perfectly.

“He’s all boy,” his owner laughed. “He can be a bit of a goofball and is very feisty. He’s often sassy when he doesn’t like something, and he entertains himself by tossing his toys into the air.”

Although Lola is not especially interested in toys herself, she enjoys romping and playing with Louie. The two often chase one another around the house, engaging in playful wrestling matches and gentle play-biting that can quickly turn into hilarious chaos. Louie, however, is definitely the toy enthusiast of the pair. Because of his energetic personality, his family has learned to only buy toys tough enough to survive his enthusiasm.
“His toys have to be durable,” they explained. “He loves balls and anything that makes noise.”

Like many devoted dogs, Lola and Louie prefer to stay close to their people at all times. During the day, they can usually be found wherever their owner happens to be, making sure she remains within eyesight. At night, both dogs sleep in bed beside their owners, usually pressed up close against her.

The pair also loves getting out and exploring. Walks around the neighborhood, trips to the dog park, and car rides are among their favorite activities. Both dogs especially enjoy running and burning off energy outdoors.
One of the greatest joys these dogs have brought to the family is how they have encouraged new connections within the community. Although their owners moved into Glenmary 27 years ago, it was not until Lola arrived that regular walks around the neighborhood became part of daily life.

“Before Lola, I was never someone who walked the neighborhood,” their owner shared. “Since having these two, I’ve met so many neighbors over the last five years. It has been so good for me in many ways, and I’ve enjoyed it so much.”

Of course, no pet story would be complete without a few funny moments, and Lola and Louie certainly provide plenty of entertainment. While Louie often acts like he is in charge, everyone in the household knows who truly runs the show.

Beyond their playful personalities, Lola and Louie are known for being incredibly friendly dogs who genuinely love people. According to their owner, the two poodles never forget a friendly face — or even a friendly house.

Whether strutting proudly through the neighborhood, chasing each other across the yard, or cuddling close at bedtime, Lola Latte and Louie Pierre have become treasured members of both their family and the Glenmary community. Their love, companionship, and endless personalities are a daily reminder of just how special the bond between pets and people can truly be.
