How Two Veteran Sisters Built a Cleaner, Better Way to Handle Trash Day
One summer, Jessica Klaus found herself with a nasty garbage bin problem—raccoons had torn through her garbage overnight, and by the next morning, the bin was already full of maggots. Jessica slammed the lid shut and called her twin sister, Ivy Levine, to figure out what to do with the disgusting mess.
Like most homeowners, they did what anyone would do. They grabbed the garden hose, sprayed hornet killer, spider spray, household cleaners—anything they thought might help. After the trash had been picked up, they wrestled the filthy bin into the yard, dragged the hose across the lawn, scrubbed, rinsed, and watched dirty water run across the driveway because they simply didn’t know what else to do.
Later that day, Jessica looked for a professional company to come clean her garbage bin but couldn’t find anyone in the area. A few days later, a video appeared on Jessica’s Facebook feed. At first, she thought it was simply someone offering the service. Instead, it introduced a business dedicated entirely to cleaning garbage bins. She showed Ivy, and before the video even finished, Ivy smiled and said, “Yes. Let’s do it!” That moment led to the formation of Bin Blasters Canton.
Jessica and Ivy were born in Maryland but have lived all over the country. Service has always been at the heart of who they are. Ivy served in the Army before becoming a Registered Nurse and currently works at Aultman Alliance Hospital. Jessica served in the Air Force before becoming a Physician Assistant and now cares for patients through Aultman Now Urgent Care while also helping educate future physician assistants at the University of Mount Union.
Jessica’s husband, David, is a Marine and, along with Ivy, runs the Bin Blasters truck. Jessica and David have a son, Lukas, who proudly serves as their “Little Blaster!” You can even catch Jessica out on the route from time to time when she isn’t in the clinic or at UMU.
As a family, this has never been about simply washing garbage bins. It’s about delivering a level of cleanliness that most people never imagined was possible. Every visit begins right at your curb with their self-contained cleaning trailer, complete with its own 380-gallon water supply and wastewater collection tank, so nothing is left behind on a client’s property. Water is heated to 200 degrees to break down years of grime, kill microorganisms, and sanitize the inside of each garbage bin. Every cleaning finishes with Bin Blasters’ signature vinegar-based essential oil disinfecting spritz of your choosing.
Before leaving, the work doesn’t stop at the garbage bin. The team walks the property, picking up any visible litter around the curb and surrounding area because they believe every home should look better when they leave than when they arrived.
People are naturally skeptical of anything new. After all, it’s “just a garbage bin.” Until they see the transformation. Watching years of grime disappear, odors eliminated, and a garbage bin restored to looking almost brand new changes people’s perspective. What once felt like an unnecessary luxury quickly becomes one of those simple conveniences they never want to give up.
That’s why most clients choose a monthly or quarterly subscription, although one-time cleanings are always available. After all, we never stop producing garbage. Keeping garbage bins clean shouldn’t be something people have to think about—it should simply be taken care of. Bin Blasters also offers pressure washing and surface cleaning for curbs, driveways, patios, sidewalks, and more.
Jessica, David and Ivy enjoy interacting with their community and witnessing the incredible before-and-after transformations of their clients’ garbage bins.
Glenmoor resident Miranda McKimm has been using Bin Blasters and has had a great experience! She states: “We've been very happy with Bin Blasters and highly recommend their service. Their team is always professional, dependable, and does an excellent job cleaning and sanitizing our garbage and recycling bins. Their communication is top notch! The difference is especially noticeable during the summer months, when heat can quickly turn trash bins into a source of unpleasant odors.
The convenience is well worth it, and it's one of those services you don't realize you need until you experience how clean and fresh your bins can be. If you're looking for an easy way to keep your garage and driveway smelling better year-round, Bin Blasters is a great choice!”
In addition to Miranda, Ryan Christopher has enjoyed using Bin Blasters as well. He says: “Bin Blasters has been great to work with! They communicate all through the process, letting me know when they are coming, confirming when the job is done, and following up to make sure I’m happy with the service. But I think the thing I enjoy most is how nice they are to me and my family. They show up with great attitudes, are kind to my kids, and overall pleasant in every interaction. Overall the process is easy and the service is great!”
