Dr. Kristen Reitano at Angus Dentistry

If you’ve ever passed Angus Dentistry while driving through Salisbury, you may have sensed the warm, welcoming spirit that surrounds this long-standing neighborhood practice. Step inside, and that sense of comfort only grows. For Dr. Kristen Reitano, joining Angus Dentistry wasn’t just a career move—it felt like coming home. “This office is truly special,” she says. “I can treat patients the way I would want to be treated, with compassion, respect, and the time to answer every question.”

Angus Dentistry has served families in our area for over 50 years, and those decades of trust are part of what drew Dr. Reitano in. Growing up in a dental family herself, she and colleague Dr. Rebecca Angus learned early what it means to build a practice grounded in connection. “We were raised in environments where patient relationships came first,” she shares. “That’s exactly the kind of practice I wanted to be part of.”

Virginia Beach–born and a former Division I field hockey player at James Madison University, Dr. Reitano brings both drive and heart to her work. She went on to earn her dental degree from VCU and completed a demanding two-year residency in San Antonio. Her journey was not without hardship—on her very first day of dental school, her father was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. “Losing my dad so early in my training changed me,” she says. “Instead of letting it break me, it pushed me to work harder and run toward challenges rather than away from them.”

After her training, she and her husband, Jack, returned to the Richmond area to be closer to family. Four years in, they’ve fully settled into life here, especially with Milo, their golden doodle, who has become a fast neighborhood favorite.

Inside their beautifully updated, state-of-the-art office, Dr. Reitano focuses on creating a calm, reassuring experience. New patients begin in a private conference room—not the dental chair—to talk through concerns and goals. “I want every person to feel heard,” she explains. “Dentistry can be intimidating, but it shouldn’t be. My goal is to change that perception.” Using advanced 3D imaging and a comprehensive exam, she walks patients through their oral health in a way that feels clear and empowering.

Her advice to neighbors? Prioritize preventive care. “Dental disease doesn’t always cause pain,” she notes. “Regular checkups help us catch things early—long before they become bigger issues.”

From partnering with local preschools to educate children on brushing and flossing to caring for generations of Salisbury families, Dr. Reitano is dedicated to serving her community with warmth, skill, and heart. “This is home for us,” she says. “And caring for our neighbors is the best part of what I do.”

If you’re looking for a practice where you’re treated like family, you’ll find that—and more—at Angus Dentistry.
