Please tell us a little about yourselves — background, education, family, etc.
Hey Pack Leaders! We’re Alex & Genny — the mother-daughter duo behind Szegi Haus K9 Solutions. Two women on a mission to turn our passions into a purpose-driven career. Genny balances her time between being a dog trainer by day and a labor & delivery nurse by night. Alex is all-in, running Szegi Haus K9 full-time after stepping away from the traditional corporate world to build something more meaningful. Together, we’re chasing dreams, one well-behaved pup at a time!

What’s the history and mission of your business? What inspired you to start?
It all began with breeding German Shepherds. Over time, as we helped puppies find new homes, clients would ask for continued training support. At first, we stuck to AKC breeding — but eventually, we realized there was a deeper calling. That’s how Szegi Haus K9 Solutions was born. Our mission is to empower dog owners by helping them overcome behavioral challenges while building confidence, obedience, and stronger bonds between dogs and their humans.

What sets Szegi Haus K9 apart from other training facilities? We don’t just train dogs — we educate their humans. It’s about building communication between handler and dog, developing mutual respect, and creating a more enriching lifestyle for both. Every session with us is not just about obedience; it’s about creating lasting relationships and a deeper understanding of canine behavior.

How do you connect with and support the local community?
We love giving back! From hosting free training events to participating in local community happenings, we aim to make dog training more accessible. Whether you’ve got a new puppy or a senior rescue, we create structured events for dogs of all ages and temperaments.

Every business has challenges — what have yours been, and how have you grown from them?
One word: consistency. Running a small business means wearing all the hats, all the time. The biggest challenge is balancing our desire to give our clients the very best with the reality of being a small but mighty operation. The Brighton community’s encouragement has helped us push forward and dream even bigger. Your support motivates us to keep going and build something truly lasting.

What’s your vision for the future of Szegi Haus K9 Solutions?
We dream of a one-stop “dog haven” — a place where your dog gets everything they need, and so do you! Picture daycare and training, paired with grooming and even a dog mom coffee lounge. Short term, we’re working on expanding our space by separating our boarding and training facilities to better serve both needs. And mark your calendars — our next Halloween Bash is October 25, 2025! It’s going to be even bigger this year — follow us for updates!

What advice do you have for pet parents in our community?
Training matters — no matter your dog’s age, size, or temperament. Even the calmest pup can benefit from enrichment, socialization, and structure. Remember: Netflix isn’t enough! Dogs thrive when mentally and physically challenged. It’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks.
