The O-Gee’s of Hidden Lake: 25 Years of Love, Laughter, and Lasting Memories
After 25 years on Stoney Point Drive, the Gee family is saying farewell to Hidden Lake. Their home has been the backdrop for milestones, laughter, and deep friendships with neighbors who became like family. Though leaving is bittersweet, they’re embracing new adventures with open hearts.
After 25 years at 10993 Stoney Point Drive, the Gee family is preparing to say goodbye to Hidden Lake. Known affectionately as the “O-Gee’s” of the neighborhood, they believe they were the first residents on the water—and their time here has been nothing short of extraordinary. “We really believed it was our forever home,” Geri shared.
Their introduction to Hidden Lake was serendipitous. “We randomly heard about the development from an employee. His exact words were, ‘The entrance to Hidden Lake looks like Disney Land—have you ever seen it?!’” That passing comment led the Gees to a place that would shape the next quarter-century of their lives.
A Community That Became Family
When asked what they’ve loved most, Geri’s answer came easily. “What we love most about our home is the setting and the sense of community that surrounds it.” With southwest-facing windows that flood the home with natural light, the view has always been a gift. But even more treasured are the people. “Our next-door neighbors have become like family, lovingly adopting us as honorary grandparents. Across the street, we’ve shared life’s most cherished milestones with neighbors who feel more like lifelong friends. It’s not just a house—it’s a home, deeply connected to those around us.”
Memories Made to Last
Over the years, the Gees’ home has been the heart of celebrations and milestones: their son growing up, heading off to the University of Michigan, and later welcoming his wife into the family; weddings and milestone birthdays; and the neighborhood’s most unforgettable Halloween productions. “We tried to change the theme each year to keep the kids on their toes—but honestly, it was the parents we enjoyed scaring the most,” Geri laughed.
Some memories run deeper. Geri recalled one of the most emotional days of her life: “After my final chemo treatment during COVID, I came home to find my entire yard filled with signs, balloons, and heartfelt messages from friends and family. In that moment, I realized I wasn’t fighting alone. I had an entire community holding me up, cheering me on, and walking every step of that journey with me.”
The Home Itself
Built in 2000 on three-quarters of an acre, the home offers more than 6,000 square feet with four bedrooms and six bathrooms. “We selected this lot because of the size,” Geri explained. “We wanted a large backyard. The cove protects us from speeding boats, but it’s large enough to go for a swim or catch a monster bass!”
Over the years, the Gees poured love and attention into every detail. “We’ve thoughtfully upgraded nearly every inch of this home—transforming it from top to bottom with quality finishes and modern design,” Geri said. Their list of improvements is impressive: a custom pool, professional landscaping, a remodeled kitchen, renovated bathrooms, new flooring and stairs, updated windows, and even a redesigned driveway.
The living room’s soaring 18-foot windows frame a breathtaking view of the lake, while the office overlooks the pool cascading into the water beyond. The master bedroom, flooded with morning light, made each day a little brighter.
And while visitors always admired the views, what they remembered most were the Gee family’s playful touches. “Guests seem to remember all the practical jokes we’ve planted throughout the house,” Geri laughed.
Outdoor Living
Outside, the home was just as lively. “In addition to the pool and firepit, we had a basketball court in the driveway and enjoyed all the normal games—Horse, Round the World, and so on,” Geri shared. Their son and his friends filled the backyard with football games, while neighbors gathered for bonfires and lakeside sleepovers under the stars.
Everyday Life in Hidden Lake
Life here was about more than the house—it was about the lifestyle. “We have always enjoyed the long walks, biking to Kensington and Island Lake, kayaking, boating, and all the special concerts and fireworks the association put on,” Geri said.
And with smart-home features like remote-controlled blinds, pool, sprinklers, and garage door, along with a whole-home generator and security system, the Gees combined beauty with ease and peace of mind.
Looking Ahead
As for what comes next, the Gees are embracing possibility. “Most people have a clear plan when they decide to sell their home—but not the Gee’s. For us, this next chapter is more about possibility than precision. While we don’t know exactly where we’ll land, we imagine it will bring us closer to our grandkids in Tennessee. Winters will certainly be spent in sunny Florida, and we just might take the RV on a spontaneous, extended adventure. For the first time in a long time, the road ahead is wide open—and that’s exactly how we like it.”
Still, leaving won’t be easy. “There is so much we’ll miss about our home and Hidden Lake—it’s hard to put into words. This isn’t just a house; it’s where our family grew, where we built a life full of laughter, milestones, and quiet moments we’ll carry with us forever. Hidden Lake has been our sanctuary, our community, and our joy. Leaving will be emotional, but we’re grateful for every moment we’ve had here.”
A Note from the Publisher
As the Gees turn the page on this new chapter, their story reminds us what makes Hidden Lake so special: the homes are beautiful, but it’s the people and the connections that make this community unforgettable.
