From Funky to Fresh: Will Clayton's Trash Bin Transformation Service
A Highland Lakes middle schooler turns dirt and grime into dollars—one power-washed trash bin at a time.

When most kids walk past a smelly trash bin, they hold their noses and hurry on. Not Will Clayton. This enterprising Highland Lakes resident saw an opportunity where others saw only odor. At just 13 years old, Will has launched a neighborhood trash bin cleaning service that’s making waves—and making bins sparkle.
It all started with a suggestion from his mom, who thought it could be a great summer business idea. “She kind of told me about it,” Will says. “Then we bought the power washer, and she got some customers who are friends around the neighborhood. It took off from there.”
Will taught himself the ropes by watching YouTube tutorials and practicing on his own family’s bins. “They were so dirty,” he laughs. “But I cleaned them up, and they looked so good.”
His equipment includes a heavy-duty power washer, a professional-strength probiotic enzyme cleaner, and a deodorizer. “The power washer is my favorite,” Will says. “It’s satisfying to see the before and after.”
Despite the bugs and the dirt that collect in hard-to-reach crevices, Will says the flexibility of running his own business is the best part. “I like that I can do it on my own time, in between sports and school,” he says. “The startup cost is pretty low, so you can start making a profit quickly.”
Will’s service has spread fast through word of mouth, social media, and neighbor recommendations. His twin brother Alex and friends like Graham have been huge supporters, and Will is now looking to expand into the Lewis Center and Westerville areas. Flyers will be going up soon, so keep an eye out!
Will hopes his story inspires other young entrepreneurs. “My advice would be just to believe you can do it,” he says. “Put in the hard work and you will be successful.”
