Light Up the Night: Join Genoa Middle School’s 5th Annual Glow Run!

Students, families, and community members are invited to Genoa Middle School’s fifth annual Glow Run on Friday, March 14! Donned in colored T-shirts and glow accessories, participants will enjoy a fun run for a good cause just before dusk.

On the night of the run, participants will pick up their packets starting at 4:45 p.m. The Kids Run will kick off at 5:45 p.m., followed by a one-mile run/walk at 6 p.m. and a 5K run/walk at 6:30 p.m. The event will conclude with an awards presentation around 7:30 p.m.

Glow Run participants will run along an out-and-back course that begins on the track at Genoa Middle School, goes past Fouse Elementary to the Genoa/Ohio-to-Erie trail, and then returns to the glowing finish line, where they will be welcomed back with upbeat music. The one-mile runners will complete the first half-mile of the 5K course before turning around to finish on the track. The courses stay off main roads, and all participants must wear at least one glowing item for safety.

The Kids Run, recommended for ages eight and under, is free. Those participating in the 1-Mile or 5K events will receive a race T-shirt, swag bag, glow items, and coupons with their registration fee.

Your participation fee will benefit Genoa Middle School’s Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA), which provides year-round support for the school through initiatives such as teacher mini-grants, end-of-the-year student field trips, Jags Night Out student events, staff appreciation meals, scholarships, and more.

Highland Lakes resident Christy Worny is helping to organize this event as the PTSA's fundraising co-chair. She and her husband, Ben, have lived in the neighborhood for 15 years. Their oldest daughter attends Westerville Central High School, and their younger daughter attends Genoa Middle School. Christy is happy to answer any questions about the Glow Run. You can contact her at fundraising.genoa@gmail.com.
