Happy Customers in Illinois!
For Jason Wilbrandt, people have always come before products. Long before solar panels became his focus, his passion centered on community, relationships, and building something meaningful for families across Illinois.
A lifelong Illinois resident, Jason grew up in Lake in the Hills before moving to Cary, where he attended Cary-Grove High School. His connection to the region is deeply personal, shaped by family values and a strong sense of hometown pride. That pride extends into local history as well—his father, Don Wilbrandt (#8), was a standout member of the legendary 1952 Hebron Green Giants basketball team, a legacy still commemorated today by a basketball painted atop the town’s water tower.
Jason’s professional path began with a people-first mindset. After high school, he studied Culinary Arts and Hotel & Restaurant Management at Elgin Community College, training under respected local chefs. Those experiences reinforced the importance of service, trust, and attention to detail—principles that would later define his approach to business.
As electricity costs continued to rise throughout Illinois, Jason saw an opportunity to apply those values in a new way. That realization led him to the renewable-energy industry and the founding of Island Life Solar—a company built to help homeowners take control of their energy costs while making a smart, long-term investment.
“Illinois homeowners have some of the strongest solar incentives in the country,” Jason explains. “Once I understood how much of a difference that could make for families, it became something I felt was important to share.”
Through Island Life Solar, Jason partners with leading solar installers to provide a smooth, stress-free transition to renewable energy. Systems are designed for longevity, featuring no-pipe roof installations, high-quality equipment, and 25-year warranties. For many homeowners, going solar means producing their own clean energy for less than they currently pay the utility—while gaining long-term price stability and energy independence.
Community involvement remains a cornerstone of Jason’s work. He serves as an ambassador for the Lake in the Hills/Algonquin Chamber of Commerce and actively supports several local chambers throughout the Fox Valley. Most recently, his team has been working with homeowners in the Thornwood and Highland Woods neighborhoods, expanding Island Life Solar’s impact one home at a time.
During the winter months, Jason focused on education, writing Watts & Wonders—a clear, homeowner-friendly guide created to demystify the solar process. Designed for everyday homeowners, the book explains how solar works in a straightforward, approachable way. Watts & Wonders is available as a free download on the Island Life Solar website at IslandLifeSolar.com, or by scanning the QR code.
By blending deep local roots with forward-thinking energy solutions, Jason Wilbrandt and Island Life Solar are helping Illinois homeowners power not just their houses—but their future.
