Historic Brookhaven Residents Shine in Holiday Showhouse
Visit the West Club Lane Home between November 20 and December 14
This year’s Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse is on West Club Lane and features five Historic Brookhaven residents. Calvert Lane resident Linda MacArthur is the architect. Cathy Boston, who lives on Stovall Boulevard, is the listing agent and Home Luxury Real Estate is a sponsor. Brookhaven Drive resident Cathy Rhodes and Club Drive resident June Chamberlain have each designed a room in the house. Developer Ferzana Khaleel has a home on Stovall Boulevard.
This is the first time a Home for the Holidays showhouse has been in Historic Brookhaven. “The timing was right,” says Linda, who has worked on other showhouses hosted by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine. “It’s a fresh neighborhood for Atlanta Homes. We are happy to have it here. I think Historic Brookhaven is a beautiful neighborhood and very deserving of having a showhouse.”
Located at 4238 West Club Lane, the home has five bedrooms, six full baths, and a powder room. The backyard includes a pool and outdoor fireplace. This year, the showhouse benefits the Atlanta History Center.
The home will be open for tours Thursdays through Sundays beginning November 20 and running through December 14 (closed Thanksgiving Day, November 27). The showhouse’s hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets start at $45 and can be purchased at https://atlantaholidayhome.com.
Special events scheduled throughout the showhouse include a wreath making class, container gardening workshop, wine tasting, brunch, and more. Tickets for these can also be purchased at https://atlantaholidayhome.com. Prices vary.
Editor’s Note: Instead of a November 19 Sip-and-See, Cathy Rhodes will be leading a tour of the Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse on opening day, Thursday, November 20, from noon to 1 p.m. Purchase a regular ticket and be there at noon to get a special guided tour from Cathy.
SECOND SHOWHOUSE PIECE
HEAD = Making the Most of a Small Lot: Linda MacArthur Designs Showhouse with Expansive Windows, Tall Ceilings, and U-Shape
Linda MacArthur, a Calvert Lane resident and architect for the Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse on West Club Lane, has designed so many homes in Historic Brookhaven that she’s lost count. Whether a renovation or from the ground up, she has been working as a residential architect in Georgia for over three decades.
She has designed two other Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles showhouses: the 2020 Southeastern Designer Showhouse & Gardens on West Conway Drive in Buckhead and the 2022 spring Southeastern Design Showhouse in the Kingswood neighborhood.
The West Club Lane showhouse was different from either of those and initially presented challenges because it was on a smaller lot and up a hill. The hill ended up being an advantage, she says. Linda and her team were able to capitalize on the views through large, dramatic windows. In winter when leaves have thinned, they hope the Capital City Club golf course will be visible. The big windows and 12 foot ceilings help the house feel more expansive.
The house is U-shaped around a backyard pool, providing privacy for homeowners. Most U-shaped houses Linda has designed are much larger. She calls the West Club Lane house the “Baby U.” They were careful to be good neighbors, she says, being mindful of tree root systems and lining the house up with neighboring homes.
“We wanted to try to have a plan that was different,” she says, noting the foyer spans the front of the house from left to right. On the left it ties to the kitchen and on the right takes you to stairs. She envisions the house being perfect for empty nesters, with rooms for visiting grandkids, or families with older children.
Linda has three adult children and one grandchild. She has lived in Historic Brookhaven for 34 years. When she was pregnant with her third child, she was working with a large firm but didn’t want to go back into an office. A neighbor who was a residential architect asked if she would help him with a home renovation project. She did, and put up a yard sign with her name. Soon, she started getting requests for her services.
“As my children grew, my business grew,” she says. “I really credit Historic Brookhaven and would like to thank our neighborhood – the people who reached out to me, took a chance on me, and hired me. Thank you, Historic Brookhaven! I really appreciate the support.”
Linda’s firm has grown to an architectural staff of eight and includes an interiors person. To learn more about her projects and services, visit https://lindamacarthurarchitect.com/ or follow her on Instagram at @lmarchitect.
THIRD SHOWHOUSE PIECE
HEAD = Cathy Rhodes Interiors Designs Guest Bedroom
Cathy Rhodes began her work life as a banker working with Fortune 500 companies. After having children, she totally switched gears and built a business around her knack for interior design. “I went from left brain to right brain,” she says.
Her first project was her own home, which went through a large renovation with Frank Neely as architect. They did projects together for several years. “People liked my work and his work. He started recommending me,” she says. Her business, Cathy Rhodes Interiors, grew from there and now includes an assistant designer, project manager, and back-office help. Her projects range from whole house builds and large renovations to helping homeowners with specific areas.
Cathy has worked on several other Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles showhouses. She was selected to do a guest room for the 2025 Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse, and “be an ambassador for the project,” she adds.
“The room is going to be all about lilac, and adorned with fun Christmas touches,” she notes.

FOURTH SHOWHOUSE PIECE
HEAD = June Chamberlan Creates Moody Upstairs Lounge
Club Drive resident June Chamberlain has had her own design business for over 30 years. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia, she worked for commercial firms while moonlighting on the side. She soon discovered that she preferred residential design. After spending one year with a small interior design firm, she decided to work on her own full time.
“I never looked back,” she says. It’s been a great career – hard work but a lot of fun.”
For the past five years or so, most of her work has been for high-end second homes all over the Southeast in places like Lake Oconee, Cashiers, NC, and Knoxville. A lot of the projects are from the ground up.
June has worked on three other Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles showhouses: two in Cashiers and one in Serenbe, GA. “When I heard the West Club Lane house was going to be a showhouse, I called and said: ‘There’s going to be a showhouse in my backyard.’ I asked if I could do a room.’”
She turned what could be a playroom into a moody upstairs lounge. The room is 13 feet by 26 feet and sits above the front door, with a street and possible golf course view out large windows. June chose an oxblood color for the walls. “It’s a place you want to hang out and have a glass of wine and relax,” she says.
June and her husband Steve have lived in their Club Drive home for 20 years. Their son David is a junior at the Wesleyan School. You can find June on Instagram at @June.Chamberlain.Interiors.
