HEAD = Ladies Book Club to Read All Colors of the Dark
The Historic Brookhaven women’s book club is taking February off but will gather again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, to discuss All Colors of the Dark by Chris Whittaker. The book is a thriller-love story that spans generations. In January, the group read The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali.
Founded in 2024, the book club has a listing of 25 interested women with somewhere around a dozen attending each month’s meeting. Members sign up to host, then get to choose the month’s book selection. Hosts are responsible for providing a meeting place and some snacks, but other attendees also bring food items and wine.
The book club is open to all Historic Brookhaven women. If you are interested in attending the March meeting or would like to get on the email list for future gatherings, contact Christy Paddock (christyduffner@yahoo.com) or Kristy Jennings (kristy7321@gmail.com). Christy and Kristy met at a Ladies of Historic Brookhaven Social Club meeting and decided to create the club.
HEAD = “Heart Swap” Yard Sign Sale Benefits CHOA
Want to show a neighbor or friend how much you love and appreciate them during this Valentine’s season? Consider purchasing a heart yard sign from Friends of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). Then personally deliver your sign or place it in a friend’s front yard to show how much you care. You can add a personal message on the back and even attach a treat.
The signs have become a February tradition in Historic Brookhaven. Visit https://choaholiday.org/heart-swap/ for more information or to purchase signs. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Heart Center, which provides funds for CHOA’s pediatric cardiac programs.
The program’s cardiac intensive care unit has 48 beds and is one of the largest in the country. With 36 acute care beds, three cardiovascular operating rooms, over 20 outpatient cardiology clinics across Georgia, and a dedicated fetal care cardiology clinic, CHOA’s pediatric cardiac center is a premiere facility.
