HEAD = Residents Rock On at 2nd Annual Classique D’Automne Band Party

The Club Forest men’s social club, the Krewe du Foret, held its second annual Classique D’Automne Deux Band Party on Saturday, October 4. About 60 people attended the event, which this year was open to all Historic Brookhaven residents and featured three musical acts.

Club Forest resident Mark Stevens opened the concert. He performed as a solo singer and guitarist under the name Apollo Borealis. Sidecar, a ‘90s alternative rock band featuring Club Forest resident Derek Porter on guitar, took the Club Circle stage next.

The Ivy Road Band was the headliner, with Mark as drummer, Stovall Boulevard resident Patrick Viguerie on guitar, and Club Circle resident Bob Ward on bass. Along with lead singer Jennifer Overton, the band has have been playing ‘70s and ‘80s classic rock tunes in Atlanta and elsewhere for over 25 years. They have played in Athens, GA; Oxford, MS; Boston; and Los Angeles, CA.

The Krewe plans to host a third annual concert next fall. “It was a great event attended by Brookhaven residents and friends,” says Mark. The Krewe also hosts the annual Mardi Gras parade in the spring.

HEAD = Street Party Fun for Neighbors of All Ages

This year’s annual Street Party drew about 200 residents to the triangle at the intersection of East Brookhaven and Lakehaven Drives and Davidson Avenue on Friday evening, September 28. The crowd ranged in age from babies to retirees, and the Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association (HBNA) was prepared with something for everyone.

Face painters and balloon makers thrilled children, while their parents were able to enjoy the tunes of DJ Bravo Jay and libations from Atlanta Alcohol Heroes Beverage Truck. Bouncy houses and ball pits were tailored for different aged children.

As one of the event sponsors, Stroll Historic Brookhaven provided a photo backdrop and encouraged neighbors to pose for our photographer Lahcen Boufedji. The October cover featured several groups in celebration of the magazine’s fifth-year anniversary.

Justine Regnier, an HBNA board member and chair of the events committee, was in charge of the party.
