HEAD = Hundreds Flock to LNCP Spring Concert
Hundreds of Historic Brookhaven and North Buckhead residents gathered at Little Nancy Creek Park (LNCP) on Friday evening, May 15, for the annual spring concert. The Larry Griffith Band played old and new tunes while neighbors picnicked and enjoyed catching up with one another.
The event, sponsored by Home Luxury Real Estate Cathy Boston, also included face painting and a balloon artist for children. Chick Fil A was onsite for food purchases.
The park hosts two concerts a year, one in the spring and one in the fall (usually in mid October). LNCP is governed by a board comprised of both Historic Brookhaven and North Buckhead residents. Historic Brookhaven resident Luke Bayer serves as president, Stovall Boulevard resident Brannon Arnold is treasurer, and Peachtree Dunwoody Road resident Whit Ferguson runs events, public safety, and fundraising.
LNCP is located at the intersection of Winall Down and Peachtree Dunwoody Roads, on the North Buckhead side. It includes playgrounds and walking trails. For more information, visit the website at https://littlenancycreekpark.org/ or the Instagram page @littlenancycreekpark.

HEAD = Head to History Center for More Perfect Union
If you’re looking to escape the July heat and be entertained without seeing a movie or walking the mall, head to the Atlanta History Center to see the new exhibit More Perfect Union: The American Civil War Era. This exhibition goes beyond battlefield stories and relics, and includes never-before-seen artifacts like an original copy of Frederick Douglass’ speech “What to a Slave is the Fourth of July?” and the Confederate flag that flew over Atlanta on the date of the city’s surrender.
Interactive maps, timelines, films, and searchable databases along with rare artifacts from one of the world’s most extensive Civil War collections create a deeper understanding of the war. Personal stories offer a view into all aspects of American life during the period.
More Perfect Union opens July 10. Visit www.atlantahistorycenter.com for more information on this exhibit and others, including “Our War Too: Women in Service” from the National World War II Museum’s collection. Consider making a day of it, including lunch or coffee. The Atlanta History Center houses two cafés: Brash Coffee and Souper Jenny’s, both in the main building.
