It’s Time to Volunteer for the Mailbox Brigade!!!

Orders for Mailbox Decorations Open November 4

Did you know that the annual Historic Brookhaven Mailbox Brigade holiday decorating project is an all-volunteer activity? Resident volunteers organize the effort, purchase materials and coordinate with local tree lots for greenery, make the bows, recruit and assign decorating teams, market the decorations, and more.

“The funds raised go to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, but it’s the resident volunteers who do the work and make it happen for everyone,” says Ashley Campbell, one of this year’s Brigade co-chairs.

Ashley notes that every year the Brigade has fewer volunteers, which puts the neighborhood at risk of losing this holiday tradition.

“Please join us and sign up to help us decorate mailboxes,” Ashley says. “It doesn’t take too long, it’s fun, and we’ll teach you everything you need to know.”

Orders for mailbox decorations go live on Tuesday, November 4, and are open until Friday, November 21, unless they sell out before then. Orders placed between November 4 and November 19 are $55 per mailbox. Those placed between November 19 and November 21 are $65 per mailbox decoration. To volunteer, sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E44AAAC2BA46-58846880-mailbox#/. Decorating teams are assigned mailboxes and given supplies and instructions. Teams must complete their decorating between Tuesday, November 25, and Sunday, December 14. The more volunteers, the more decorations the Brigade can sell.

“We are looking forward to a wonderful season,” says Ashley. “We love our volunteers and cannot do it without you. Thank you!”
