In March 2024, Susan Barnes joined Dr. Emily Hrisomalos’ practice, where she now focuses on expanding the aesthetics department and building meaningful relationships with patients. With a career centered on helping others feel confident in their own skin, she began as an American Sign Language interpreter for deaf and blind children, working closely with students and their families for nearly eight years. That experience was deeply rewarding, and she still finds opportunities to use ASL today. Personal struggles with acne as a teenager and young adult later inspired a shift into aesthetics. “I know what it feels like to be self-conscious about your skin,” she shared, “and that experience motivated me to help others feel more confident in theirs.” Bringing more than 25 years of experience to her role, she spent two decades managing a large medical spa and a year as a national laser trainer, combining patient care, operations expertise, and teaching.

Outside of work, she has been married for 21 years and has three young adult children—a stepson and two daughters. Adjusting to life as empty nesters, the household stays lively thanks to their Labradoodle, Rosie.

Joining Dr. Hrisomalos’ practice initially as a consultant evolved into a larger role in developing and growing the aesthetics department. Both share a patient-first philosophy, grounded in compassionate and personalized care. “Our mission is to listen closely to each patient’s concerns and tailor treatments to their individual needs,” she explained. “Every decision, from introducing new technology to designing treatment plans, centers on what’s best for the patient.”

The aesthetics department offers a wide variety of treatments to address a range of skin concerns. She works closely with surgical patients as well, reviewing pre-treatment skincare, guiding them through recovery, and ensuring they feel informed and comfortable every step of the way.
