Holly Jolly All Year Long

If you’ve taken a walk around the neighborhood lately, chances are you’ve met Holly, the sweet and social Shih Tzu who’s quickly become a local favorite—especially among her fellow four-legged friends.

Holly joined the Meunier family just three days before Christmas, which explains her festive name. “She was our little holiday gift,” they say. A tiny bundle of fluff at just 2.5 pounds, Holly was lovingly chosen from a breeder after the family decided it was time to welcome another Shih Tzu into their lives. Today, she’s grown into a healthy and happy 14-pound companion, but her arrival story is still one of the family’s favorites.

If Holly had a theme song, it would be “Wild Thing”, and with good reason! She’s got a quirky habit of staring you down when she wants to go outside, and she’s been known to shred a tissue or two (or twelve) when she’s feeling extra mischievous.

But don’t let her wild side fool you, Holly takes her role in the family very seriously. She knows that Sundays mean dinner at the Meuniers', and she waits all day for the arrival of the grandkids with eager excitement. Her favorite pastime? Walking the neighborhood to greet her human neighbors and canine companions—especially her best friend Hopper, who lives right next door.

She loves people, especially those her size, and while she might be cautious around big dogs, she’s never met a small pup or human she didn’t like. Her retrieving skills are top-notch, and her favorite thing in the world (aside from back scratches) is simply being close to her family.

And the nickname “Poopie”? That’s courtesy of Paul—though Audrey’s not a fan!

When asked what Holly would say if she could talk, the family laughs: “She’d probably say we’re pushovers—and our kids would agree!” But it’s clear they wouldn’t have it any other way. Holly is more than just a pet—she’s a beloved companion, loyal greeter, tissue destroyer, and full-time heart-stealer.
