Meet Harlowe Penny Blue!
This gorgeous standard poodle all the traits Beth-Anne Blue most appreciates about the breed: smart, hypo-allergenic, a sense of humor and a precious personality. After their last rescue poodle, Paisley, passed away, Beth-Anne contacted the same rescue in Florida that had facilitated her adoption.
They were soon matched with Harlowe, and her owner agreed to a FaceTime meet-up. “We learned about Harlowe’s situation and knew she would be ours.” Beth-Anne and David met the rescue facilitator in Alabama to get Harlowe. “In her Florida backyard, Harlowe had a daily chase with one squirrel, back and forth across the fence.
Now that she is in Durham, she is forever on the hunt for a replacement. Birds, squirrels, anything small and moving gets her attention. Like the dog in the movie “Up”, her whole world stops if she sees a squirrel.” Harlowe and David spend a lot of time together. She is his office mate. They take walks around the neighborhood to “maintain schedule and routine for Harlowe” (and maybe for David, too).
She loves a run in the park and the occasional opportunity to chase bunnies and three random squirrels. Harlowe enjoys car rides, especially when David lowers the back windows, so she can sniff all the wonderful smells, and when she is allowed to ride shotgun for a short jaunt.
Every night, Harlowe actively participates in Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and reruns of The Big Bang Theory. She enjoys the family tradition of icees before bed. At lights out, she sleeps contentedly snuggled between David and Beth-Anne’s feet. She also finds time to sneak in during the day for a nap on Beth-Anne’s “cold blankie,” but don’t tell!
She’s a good girl, keeping an eye on the neighborhood, only barking when she hears a doorbell (real or not) or to alert to anyone outside the home. Harlowe Penny Blue is HPB in family texts. Harlowe ends in “e” because Beth-Anne’s name ends in e. “In keeping with the tradition of a ‘P’ name because they are from Pensacola, as we did with Paisley, Harlowe’s middle name is Penny. Blue, that’s just a cool last name.”
