Keeping Up with the Jarvis
Big Hearts & Busy Days
Hunting Creek has welcomed many wonderful families over the years, and the Jarvi family is already settling in beautifully. Jeremy and Kristen Jarvi moved into the neighborhood in November 2024 after spending two and a half years searching for the right home. As they shared, “We really wanted to move into the neighborhood and enjoy the beauty and convenient amenities that it offers,” and they were thrilled when they finally found the perfect spot. They were especially excited to join a community known for its scenery, its charm, and its friendly spirit.
Jeremy has lived in Louisville his entire life, while Kristen is originally from Indianapolis. When they got engaged, they weighed the idea of living in Nashville or Louisville, but decided on Louisville so they could stay close to both families. Their story together began not long after Kristen moved to the city for her first job as a speech-language pathologist at the University of Louisville Hospital. The two met at a former hot spot, Bahama Breeze, a moment they both look back on fondly. In September 2007, they were married on the beach in Hilton Head. The spot holds a special place in their hearts, and Kristen says simply, “Hilton Head is one of our favorites.”
Their sons, Landon, who is fifteen, and Tate, who is twelve, keep the family active and moving in every direction. Landon is a freshman at Trinity High School, where he earned a spot on the golf team and also plays club soccer with Mockingbird Valley Premier. Tate is a sixth grader at Holy Trinity and keeps busy with club baseball through the Louisville Baseball Club as well as golf and basketball. Jeremy and Kristen often laugh about their weekly schedule because it usually involves what they call “divide and conquer” as they cheer on both boys from fields, courts, and golf courses in and out of town.
Sports even shape the way the family travels. A recent adventure took them to Cleveland and Pittsburgh for MLB baseball games and a day at Cedar Point. The boys had always been hesitant to try bigger roller coasters, but that visit changed everything. “Once they went on one, they were hooked,” the family said. Their new enthusiasm even sparked visits to two more amusement parks that summer.
Their four-legged family member is Bear, their seven-year-old mini goldendoodle. The boys were originally surprised by him, and he quickly became the star of the household. Bear is rarely more than a few feet from Kristen, especially now that she works from home. She affectionately refers to him as “her assistant,” and he never misses a chance to welcome the family back home.
Jeremy has spent twenty-five years in the nonprofit sector and now serves as the Chief Development Officer at Metro United Way. He has “a big heart to help” and is passionate about strengthening the community. Kristen has dedicated her entire career to speech language pathology, beginning in adult acute care before transitioning into school settings when the boys reached school age. She now works remotely with a school in Vermont.
Since moving to the neighborhood, the Jarvies have jumped right into community life. They joined Hunting Creek Country Club, where Landon and Tate participated in the junior golf league and can routinely be found playing or practicing at the range. Jeremy joined the membership committee and is enjoying more opportunities to play golf. Kristen hopes to get back into tennis since she played in high school. One of their favorite memories so far has been attending the Fourth of July celebration. “We have never been able to experience fireworks without having to drive before,” they shared. They also delight in watching the group of does that regularly wanders near their home, lovingly calling them “the girls.”
Giving back is a meaningful part of the Jarvi family’s identity. They enjoy volunteering and donating goods to St Vincent DePaul, and Kristen and Landon have especially loved volunteering at the Santa Shop. The boys hope to volunteer more at the Humane Society as they grow older since they all love animals, especially dogs. As the family puts it, “There is so much need in our world; everyone should do their part to give back.”
