Helping Hands, Healing Hearts
The Story Behind Home Helpers of Middle Louisville
Finding a trustworthy and comforting home care provider can be a daunting task. Sherisa Sayles knows that firsthand and strives to make her business, Home Helpers Home Care, the most respected comprehensive home care provider in town.
Sayles spent nearly two decades working in the medical field before launching Home Helpers Home Care in 2021. “I started this business after my children's father passed away unexpectedly in November 2020,” Sayles said. “My goal was to have a flexible schedule for my four children, while also doing what I love.”
Home Helpers Home Care provides a variety of services and support to elderly people, veterans and individuals with disabilities who want to remain in their home. Now that the business has hit its stride, Sayles says her goals are client focused. “We are the extended family when the family can’t be there, and we want to make life easier by delivering the same exceptional care we would expect for ourselves & our families.”
Some of the numerous services offered include light housekeeping, meal preparation, assistance with daily activities, running errands, transportation to appointments, bathing and bathroom assistance, and beyond.
The first step in the process for those interested in care is to complete a free in-home assessment. It is thanks to this efficient assessment program that Home Helpers Home Care can often begin providing care as soon as the day after the assessment is done.
Sayles says it’s important for families to do their own assessment as well when they are in the hiring process. “When finding care for a loved one, always do your research. It is also okay to have trial and error,” she explained. “The company has to be a great fit for your loved one and vice versa.”
Home Helpers Home Care is a small, woman-owned business located at 8401 Shelbyville Road. Sayles loves meeting new families who stop in, and she prides herself in being personal, making families feel comfortable, and hiring the best caregivers possible. She owns the business with her partner, Robert Berry, who has a financial background.
Sayles enjoys attending networking events to educate the community about the individualized services offered, and she is often surprised to learn many don’t know private home care services exist. She also enjoys giving back by donating to local charities and non-profit organizations that help the elderly. Home Helpers Home Care is a member of the Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce and the Middletown Chamber of Commerce.
