The Quaife Family: Rooted in Faith, Family, and Community

For more than three decades, the Quaife family has been a familiar and cherished presence in the Hunting Creek and Prospect communities. Raised primarily in Louisville, Kentucky, by Robert and Judith (“Judy”) Quaife, their daughter Kathie remembers a childhood rich with music, laughter, and the enduring values of faith and family. In 1993, the Quaifes moved out to Prospect and later settled in Hunting Creek, a move that would shape generations of memories and community connections to come.

A Family Full of Heart
Robert Quaife has been a financial advisor with New York Life for an astonishing 53 years. His wife, Judy, has been both his life partner and his business partner, building their dreams together with grace, creativity, and a shared love for their family farm. Their twin daughters, Jennifer and Kathie, were born in 1974, a “planned pregnancy surprise,” as the family jokes. Jennifer, a Level Seven Master Stylist at Ciao Bella, has been a beloved part of the salon for over 20 years, while Kathie pursued a career in healthcare, focusing on senior care and family support. Jennifer’s daughter, a bright 15-year-old attending Assumption High School, represents the next generation of Quaife women, carrying forward the family’s legacy of compassion and hard work.

A Love Story with a Song and a Dance
Robert and Judy’s own love story began at The Stephen Foster Story, a musical performance where Robert’s musical talents and Judy’s dancing flair first crossed paths. The evening he arrived at rehearsal with a baby ferret in his arms, every girl noticed, but Judy waited patiently. “God told her,” Kathie says with a smile, “‘It’s in My time, not yours.’” Their partnership, built on patience, humor, and shared dreams, has lasted a lifetime.

Careers Built on Compassion and Care
After studying music therapy at the University of Alabama, where she majored in opera and minored in cello, Kathie felt called in another direction. “God had other plans,” she says. She became a nurse, specializing in geriatrics, and spent more than 25 years walking alongside seniors and their families through life’s most tender transitions. From floor nurse to case manager and eldercare coordinator, Kathie’s career has been a labor of love. Today, she channels that passion into her own business, Simply Shift, which helps families navigate the process of moving loved ones into safer, more supportive living environments.

Life at Home: Dogs, Family, and Faith
Life at the Quaife home is full of warmth, wagging tails, and laughter. The family’s dogs, Folsom, a redbone coonhound, and Arlo, a long-haired dapple dachshund, bring endless joy and a touch of mischief. Folsom, whose parents were aptly named Johnny Cash and June Carter, loves adventure, while Arlo’s favorite pastime is digging for moles in the yard.

The family finds peace and purpose through their church, St. Francis in the Fields, where faith continues to be a guiding force. Judy and Robert often travel with the church, including a memorable trip through Italy following the path of Paul, visiting Rome, Tuscany, and countless small towns steeped in beauty and history. “It brought our entire group closer together,” Kathie recalls, “and it’s something everyone looks forward to every year.”

Cherished Traditions and Neighborhood Life
After her divorce, Kathie chose to move to Hunting Creek to be closer to her parents, a decision she says was one of her best. “It’s so easy to take a peaceful walk through the woods here,” she says. “You feel safe. You know your neighbors. And you can go to sleep at night knowing that our community’s safety matters deeply to the Prospect Police.” When the family dines out, they love The Blackstone Grill, though they agree that their favorite meals are the ones cooked together at home, no matter what’s on the menu.

Giving Back to the Community
Community involvement is part of what makes the Quaife family shine. Kathie serves on the Prospect Area Chamber of Commerce Board, helping plan events that strengthen local business connections and neighborhood bonds. Their upcoming October board meeting will recognize the best local businesses, a celebration of collaboration and hometown pride. Robert continues his service as a longtime Rotary Club member, embodying the family’s spirit of giving back.

A Legacy of Love and Service
When asked what she’d like neighbors to know, Kathie smiles. “My greatest joy in life is helping seniors and their families. Seniors deserve guidance through every stage of care so they can remain as independent as possible, and families can continue to enjoy time together. That’s what life’s about, doing things together.”
From heartfelt family dinners to chamber events, from the laughter of twin sisters to the quiet faith that holds them steady, the Quaife family’s story is one of community, compassion, and love, a beautiful reflection of what makes Hunting Creek feel like home.
