Amy Vaughan Dermatology Introduces GentleCure™ to West Virginia
Amy Vaughan Dermatology has officially introduced GentleCure™ to West Virginia, marking a significant advancement in treatment options for non-melanoma skin cancer patients. The office held a press conference at its Barboursville location to announce the availability of this innovative technology and celebrate its impact on patient care across the region.
GentleCure™ is a non-surgical, image-guided radiation therapy designed to treat certain types of skin cancer, including basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma, without incisions or stitches. This treatment precisely targets cancer cells while helping preserve healthy surrounding tissue, offering patients a highly effective alternative to traditional surgery.
Amy Vaughan Dermatology is the first practice in West Virginia to offer GentleCure™ for non-melanoma skin cancer patients, expanding access to advanced dermatologic care within the state.
Patients treated with GentleCure™ experience a 99% cure rate.
The significance of this advancement is already being felt across the region as patients travel more than two hours to receive this pain-free, non-invasive option.
One such patient is Kim Messer, who shared, “I make the two-hour trip to avoid surgery and scarring. This process has been quick, painless, and a blessing.” Jennifer Adkins added, “GentleCure™ has been a godsend to me, and I highly recommend it.”
Barboursville Mayor Chris Tatum praised the milestone, stating, “We are proud that Barboursville is the first in the state to offer GentleCure™, and give our community access to this latest medical technology.”
Josalyn Barnhart, Public Information Officer on behalf of U.S. Senator Jim Justice, shared his remarks, saying, “This is a special day for West Virginia as we are now offering this cutting-edge technology right here at home.”
Also in attendance were GentleCure™ patients Otha McMaster, Jennifer Adkins, and Kim Messer, who all helped highlight the real-life impact of this treatment option.
At Amy Vaughan Dermatology, Susan Nelson, Radiation Therapist, travels approximately two hours each day to directly administer the GentleCure™ process for patients. She has already completed treatment for over 100 individuals and ensures every patient feels supported and cared for throughout their GentleCure™ treatment journey.
Amy Vaughan Dermatology continues to lead with innovation, compassion, and a commitment to bringing the most advanced care options to the community. GentleCure™ represents a major step forward in non-invasive cancer treatment and reinforces the practice’s dedication to patient-centered care.
