HOW TO AGE DISGRACEFULLY

When age makes you invisible, secrets are easier to hide…

A heartwarming tale of intergenerational friendships, with cleverly flawed and lovable characters who prove that we are limitless at any age, that growing old is inevitable, but growing up?
That’s optional – at least that’s the philosophy embraced by the delightfully mischievous characters in Clare Pooley’s “How to Age Disgracefully.”
At the heart of this uplifting and moving novel, a senior citizens’ center and daycare collide with
hilarious results in this wonderfully entertaining, new ensemble comedy.

When Lydia takes a job running the London Senior Citizens’ Social Club three afternoons a week, she assumes she’ll be spending her time drinking tea and playing gentle games of cards. The members of the Social Club, however, are not at all what Lydia was expecting. From Art, a failed actor turned kleptomaniac, to Daphne, who has been hiding from her dark past for decades, to Ruby, a Banksy-style knitter who gets revenge in yarn, these seniors look deceptively benign—but when age makes you invisible, secrets are so much easier to hide.

When the city council threatens to sell the doomed community center building, the members of the Social Club join forces with their tiny friends in the daycare next door -- as well as the teenage father of one of the toddlers and a geriatric dog -- to save the building. Together, this groups’ unorthodox methods may possibly work – provided the police don’t catch up with them first!!

Clare Pooley’s charming cast of seniors behave badly -- but in the best way -- and what follows is a hilarious, heartwarming adventure and a touching exploration of what it means to truly live -- and that age is just a number.

Engaging and moving, “How to Age Disgracefully” is a celebration of life, about second chances, the power of community, and reminds us that it’s never too late to make new friends -- and cause a little mayhem…
