Catching up with I'On Families
John, Amy, Griffin, Sebastian & Cameron
Hicks Kim Family
Cameron is thriving in New York City, pursuing modeling, acting, and singing. She has worked on campaigns for Nike, Victoria's Secret PINK, Target, Sonos, and EOS, and has a small TV role coming up. She enjoys horseback riding, volunteers at a local stable, teaches part-time at a children's dance and theater school, and loves spending time with her Parti Yorkie, Bear. Sebastian graduated from Clemson in 2024 and relocated to Olympia, Washington, to work for Purdue Farms, where he is now a Senior Flock Advisor. He lives with his girlfriend Ashley, their pets, and enjoys traveling, rugby, jiu-jitsu, woodworking, hunting, and outdoor adventures with his dog Zero. Griffin graduated from Northeastern in 2025 with a degree in International Business. He and his girlfriend Xiaxia live in Santa Monica, California, with their Westie, Lady, while exploring Southern California and pursuing career opportunities. John and Amy are enjoying life in I'On, especially as John spends less time traveling to Dubai and more time focused on development projects in Charleston and Houston. They stay active with walking, tennis, and fitness, enjoy socializing with friends, and cherish time spent with their children. This year, they also welcomed Chloe, a Shih Tzu-Bichon mix, into the family.
Scott & Holland Burns
Kids grow and change a lot in 9 years. Our boys are now all young men! Barron graduated from Clemson University in May with a degree in Management. He is planning to move to Greenville. Wilson is a rising junior at the University of Florida pursuing a degree in Finance. McCrae will start his junior year of high school at Lucy Beckham this fall.

Devin & Chelsea Darcangelo
Four years have passed since our family first appeared on the cover of Stroll, and the Lowcountry has continued to work its quiet magic on us. Wyatt is heading into sixth grade and Rhett into fourth, and these days our lives are measured less by calendars than by lacrosse schedules and basketball games. The boys seem to move with the tide itself, restless, joyful, and always in motion, while Devin and I do our best to keep pace. We continue to love life in the neighborhood, where friendships have deepened, children have grown, and the beauty of Charleston reminds us daily how fortunate we are to call this place home.
Fred & Susy Teale
Susy & Ashley (our daughter) are with The Cassina Group as a Mother-Daughter-Duo selling real estate covering all of Charleston. Fred has retired from the hospitality business and now enjoys playing golf at Bulls Bay several times a week. We have traveled much more lately within the USA and outside - Paris, Bordeaux, and Anguilla. More trips on the horizon!
Mike & Patti Johnson
Patti and Mike have retired and are enjoying visiting and entertaining their growing family. Eight grandchildren so far. They have purchased a second home near their daughter in the New Orleans area.
Roy & Karen Rathbun
We said goodbye to Chance, our 15 year-old Yorkie who was featured in our article. This past September we welcomed Kitt to I'On. Kitt is a one-year-old Yorkie as well.
Darren & Sam Sidney
Since we were last featured in Ion Magazine in 2018 things have changed quite a bit. We have a 4th kid. Trapper is 7, he is entering 2nd grade at Porter Gaud. Henry is now 14 and entering High School. He is a varsity runner on Cross Country and Track at Porter Gaud. He loves playing music. Tessa is a rising senior at Porter Gaud and is excited for her last year of high school with her friends, applying to college, working on her art. Charlie is heading your CU Boulder for Mechanical Engineering and cant wait to snowboard and meet nee people! We have a new dog, Dudley.
Todd & Lynn Joye
We are very proud of the unique paths each of our children has pursued. Our son Benjamin is a software engineer for HKD, one of the world’s premier snowmaking companies. Our son William is working towards his paramedic certification and will marry this October. Our daughter Emily is a student in the School of Architecture at NC State University in Raleigh. Todd continues to bring exceptional medical care to his patients at InterveneMD in Mt. Pleasant. His specialty is optimizing health with peptides and helping the body heal itself. Lynn is recovering from shoulder surgery and enjoys her part-time job at Wonder Works Toy Store in Belle Hall shopping center.
Steve & Ruthie Lily
We sailed for 12 years and rented our home for 5 of those years. After extensive travel, we made wonderful new friends and acquaintances all over the world.
We are back in our home and have recently sold our boat. For the first time in many years, we are boatless! My husband said there will be a Waterlily 2.0. Most probably without a sail. We are loving being back in the neighborhood and reacquainting with neighbors and many family members in the Charleston area!
William, Sarah, Cal & Scooter
Cal is now 7, starting 2nd grade in the Fall and is busy with sports and academics playing on tennis, football, baseball, basketball teams also in his school Chess Club. Scooter is now 5 and starting K in the Fall, also busy with sports playing football, soccer, baseball and both boys have gotten multiple stripes in Brazillian Jujitsu where they train weekly. When not working or playing Taxi for the boys, Sarah and Willie love a good dinner or concert!
Dick & Joyce Stifel
We continue to travel and enjoyed an outstanding trip to Egypt in October of 2024 . Starting in Cairo for three days of visiting the new museums and other prominent sites then onto seven days floating on the Nile discovering the ancient monuments and relics. The trip began on Dick’s birthday and ended on mine. A most memorable time.
In the spring of 2025, we spent a week studying the history and settlement of Bermuda. Included was a very special visit to the location of the original wreck where the skeletal remains of the ship can still be seen. We visited the first settlements: churches, homes of family descendants and an archeological dig with a renowned professor. Of courses the beaches and water are spectacular!
In the fall we hopped aboard the Rocky Mountaineer to view the beautiful vistas of the Canadian Rockies from Vancouver to Calgary… mountains, glaciers and Fairmont Hotels. Outstanding and still in North America.
The spring of 2026 found us in Costa Rica for a week of hiking, lounging on the beaches and enjoying the local culture.
In September we will board Sea Cloud ll in Venice and sail the Adriatic Sea to Dubrovnik. We sailed the original Sea Cloud several years ago and could not resist seeing this area on the sister ship. (The first, over 300’ long, was designed by Marjorie Merriweather Post and E. F. Hutton in the 1920s. )
