Sandy & Bill
LOVE AT IBIS
While planning a story about the magical experiences of Ibis members who chose to celebrate their weddings at Ibis, we found ourselves captivated by the unique love stories behind these magnificent celebrations.
First, we share the story behind Sandy Turbitt and Bill Boselli’s wedding on December 12, 2025—a story of second chances, serendipity, and a love that found its way when the timing was just right.
Sandy moved to Ibis (The Grande) from California in 2018, ready for a fresh start and closer to her brother, Michael, who lived nearby in South Florida. A year later, Bill settled into Ibis (Cascaya). Life, however, took an unexpected turn when he lost his wife just two years later.
Though both were now single and living in the same community, their paths didn’t immediately cross. Bill spent his time on the golf course; Sandy was immersed in tennis. They moved in different circles, their worlds and homes close—but not yet connected.
A mutual friend had suggested that Bill call Sandy, but the introduction never quite happened.
Then, fate stepped in—quietly, and in true Ibis fashion.
During the time of the club merger, Sandy served on the Leadership Development Committee, interviewing candidates for the Board of Directors. One of those candidates? Bill. She found him interesting during their conversation, though neither realized at the time that they had already been “introduced” in spirit.
It took their mutual friend, Barbara Friedman, to finally connect the dots—letting Bill know that Sandy was the very person he had been encouraged to call.
From there, as they say, the rest is history.
Bill later joked, “I lost the election, but I got you—and that makes me a winner.”
Their love story came full circle at Ibis on December 12, 2025, where they celebrated with approximately 85 guests—an intimate gathering of family, friends, and fellow Ibis members.
The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments. Sandy was escorted down the aisle by her brother Michael, a moment rich with emotion and meaning. By her side stood her sister, Kim Locke, as Maid of Honor, while Bill’s brother, Carl Boselli, served as Best Man. David Blanken served as their officiant, guiding the ceremony with warmth and meaning.
At the heart of the celebration was family—especially Sandy’s two daughters and their growing families, including five joyful grandchildren (with one more on the way). While every wedding has its emotional highlights, what truly caught Sandy and Bill off guard was how much their grandchildren wanted to be by their side throughout the evening. Their excitement, laughter, and constant presence brought an extra layer of love to an already meaningful day.
Choosing Ibis as their venue was an easy decision. “Ibis does a fantastic job at all events,” they shared. “We were confident our experience would be first class—and it was.” Working closely with Anelise Vazquez, the couple described the planning process as seamless, professional, and thoughtfully guided every step of the way. So much so that they asked their photographer to capture not just the celebration, but the venue and staff—wanting to remember the full experience that made their day so special.
And special it was.
Guests were quick to share glowing praise: “Absolutely beautiful… the food was fantastic, the service perfect, the venue gorgeous.” It was a celebration that not only met expectations—but exceeded them.
The evening was also filled with joyful, lighthearted moments. Carl playfully tried to convince Bill to smash cake in his face, sparking laughter throughout the room. And when the band played “Chicken Nuggets,” the dance floor belonged entirely to the youngest guests, as all five grandchildren danced with unfiltered enthusiasm—creating one of the most memorable scenes of the night.
Adding a touch of distinction, Sandy’s son-in-law, Mike, a Major in the Marines, and Bill’s brother-in-law, a Major in the Army, attended in full military dress uniforms—bringing a sense of pride and honor to the celebration. Another meaningful detail came from fellow Ibis members Luise and Deitmar, who gifted the couple cake toppers from their own wedding in Germany—making this their first American wedding and adding a sentimental, cross-generational touch.
When asked to describe the day, Sandy and Bill summed it up perfectly: wonderful, beyond expectations, and far too fast.
But perhaps what makes this story so special isn’t just the beautiful wedding—it’s the journey that led there. A missed introduction, a chance interview, a friend who finally made the connection… and two people who found love exactly when they were meant to.
At Ibis, it seems, even elections can lead to something extraordinary.
