Greg and Sue
A Lifelong Journey of Love, Success, and Giving Back
Greg & Sue with Jack & Barbara Nicklaus
Greg and Sue Poore's story begins with a serendipitous meeting on State Street in Santa Barbara, California, in June 1986. Greg, fresh out of Jacksonville University with a degree in Marketing and Management, was working his first sales job, while Sue, a UCSB student with a passion for foreign languages, was balancing her studies and a part-time job at a restaurant. Fate intervened when Greg walked in to make a cold call. While Sue’s boss didn’t purchase the phone system he was selling, that chance encounter marked the start of a lifelong partnership. They married in 1988 and settled in North Palm Beach, Florida, where Greg began working as an assistant golf pro at Lost Tree Golf Club.
Their journey eventually led them to the Ibis neighborhood, specifically The Preserve, where they have lived for 25 years. Sue, originally from Basel, Switzerland, with stints in Germany, England, and California, found a home in real estate. She began working in sales at Ibis in the early 1990s, helping to develop the very community that would later raise their family. Together, Greg and Sue have built a life filled with love, service, and community involvement. During Greg's time working at Lost Tree Golf Club he met Jack Nicklaus and his family. The Nicklaus family recruited Greg and Sue to team up with them at NV Realty Group. Over the past decade Greg has been the #1 top producer multiple times for the company which employs close to 200 agents. The Nicklaus family has not only been known for Jack's countless accolades playing golf and designing courses, but their outstanding integrity and love for philanthropy...this has been a perfect match for Greg and Sue's life goals.
One of Greg's great joys has been playing golf at Ibis and the enduring friendships that have resulted. Over the years he has had the chance to travel to visit these friends and play golf in the countries of Brazil, Austria, England, Germany, Ireland and Scotland as well as here in the states in Vail, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
Their son, Gregory, now 31, has made waves in the medical field. As an MD-PhD candidate at Northwestern University in Chicago, Gregory has dedicated his career to cancer research. His groundbreaking work on a blood test for early cancer detection earned him a spot on Forbes magazine's "Top 30 Under 30 in Healthcare" in 2022. Gregory has shared his expertise at medical conferences worldwide and continues his journey alongside his wife, Caraline, who is also an MD-PhD candidate at the University of Chicago. Together, they’re pursuing their fourth year of medical school and plan to graduate in 2025, with Caraline focusing on pediatrics.
Jessica, their 29-year-old daughter, has channeled her creativity and love for design into a thriving architecture career. After earning her degree from UCF in Orlando, she pursued a master’s degree at the prestigious Manchester School of Architecture in England. Now back in Florida, Jessica has designed luxurious residential estates on Jupiter Island and Palm Beach. Currently, she works with Peacock and Lewis, specializing in creating stunning interior spaces for elite country clubs in Palm Beach County.
The family’s love extends beyond their accomplishments to their shared passions and experiences. They’ve always been dog lovers and currently have two golden retrievers, Roo and Nash. Roo, a four-year-old from the UK, was adopted by Jessica during her time in Manchester, while six-month-old Nash joined the family after a special trip to Nashville to meet friends whose dog had puppies.
Community and giving back have always been integral to Greg and Sue’s life. Both have volunteered extensively with Ibis Charities, with Greg serving on the board and Sue working on the grants committee. Sue’s involvement with the Pediatric Oncology Support Team (POST) has been particularly meaningful, as she’s helped raise funds for children undergoing cancer treatment. Sue served on their board of directors for 20+ years. Greg, too, has dedicated his time to cooking for the homeless, mentoring young men and couples, and supporting the Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation.
Beyond their contributions, the family treasures the special memories they’ve created in Ibis. From Halloween celebrations with neighbors and golf cart trick-or-treating to sunset walks by The Preserve and dinners at The Pub, they’ve embraced the unique charm of their neighborhood. Sue fondly recalls how the community came together when their children were younger, fostering a spirit of togetherness that still resonates today.
For Greg and Sue, living in The Preserve isn’t just about the beautiful homes or amenities—it’s about the relationships they’ve built and the memories they’ve shared. With children achieving remarkable heights, a love for adventure, travel and service, and two lively golden retrievers keeping them company, their story is a testament to the power of family, community, and a life well-lived.
