Clear Mind, Healthy Life: Kim Coppola’s Path to Emotional Wellness

We may live in a society that is obsessed with food and body image, but we don’t have to. That’s why Kim Coppola started the Clear Mind Center in 2024, a psychotherapy center where she offers services specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and major depressive disorders. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, Kim helps her clients navigate such disorders, and also helps young people navigate the general stress and anxiety that comes with major life changes.

Kim is a clinical social worker and provides therapy to individuals ages 10 and up. She has worked in the field for over 11 years, and began the Clear Mind Center to push herself—both personally and professionally—and also to create an emotionally safe therapeutic space for her clients to learn the new skills, attitudes, and behaviors which are essential to their personal growth.

“Mental health is health. If someone isn’t in a good place emotionally, they are going to feel it in other areas of their life, whether they realize it or not,” Kim explains. “You don’t have to be in a crisis situation to benefit from therapy—therapy can be a preventative measure to keep someone from escalating into crisis, or it can be a temporary support as someone works through a life transition or stressor of some sort.”

One of the many factors that sets Clear Mind Center apart is Kim’s emphasis on the treatment of eating disorders. She is passionate about helping her clients develop a more positive relationship with food—and their bodies, as well.

“Recent studies have shown that eating disorders among women in perimenopause and menopause have increased by 30%. I think this is due to the pressure put on women to look a certain way and maintain their physique, and it's not normalized that our bodies change over time,” Kim says. “I help individuals unsubscribe to this ideology to live a much happier, fulfilled life.”

Because therapeutic services are personal to the core, Kim is a firm believer that clients should know their therapists are human, too. She grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and earned a Bachelor’s at Ohio University and her Master's of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. For her own self-care, Kim loves reading, Dunkin' iced coffee all year round, and moving her body. Even though it’s usually chaos (the fun kind), she also loves spending time with her husband and three children.
