Furry Friends: Meet Penny Lane

Since 2013, Tracy Feldman has called The Villages of Indian Lakes home. While she loves the peaceful surroundings, it’s truly the people—and one very special cat—that make it feel complete.
Penny Lane, a five-year-old tuxedo beauty, entered Tracy’s life after the loss of her beloved cat of 16 years during COVID. While browsing the Aggieland Humane website, Tracy spotted Penny’s picture and felt an instant connection. Meeting her in person sealed the deal—Penny was meant to come home.
Her name is a nod to The Beatles’ classic song, fitting for a feline with an uncanny love for music. Penny will stop whatever she’s doing, seek out the source of a tune, and sit quietly to listen.
Equal parts sweet and sassy, Penny is “rowdy” in the best way—once knocking over a lamp and wearing the shade like a hat. She’s endlessly curious, inspecting any open door, and once ruled the roost at the shelter. Though she’s an indoor cat, she has a stroller she pushes around the house—yet isn’t quite as thrilled when Tracy tries to take her outside in it.
Her favorite toy is a tiny jingle ball, and while she’s picky about treats, she has a refined taste for premium cat food. Penny also has a gift for emotional support—curling up over Tracy’s heart during difficult times, offering comfort without a word. She made the lockdown years far more bearable.
If Penny could go on any adventure, Tracy says she’d be front row at Ozzfest, head-banging to the beat. Until then, she’s perfectly content to reign as queen of the house, delighting her family daily with her antics, affection, and love for a good melody.
