Home Is Where the Fields Are: Family Life in Indian Lakes

For Chris (43) and Stacey (41) Field, family life in Indian Lakes is all about connection, adventure, and community. Chris and Stacey, high school sweethearts from A&M Consolidated, moved back to College Station in 2011 and into Indian Lakes in 2018 with their four children: Micah (16), Beckett (14), Lincoln (10), and Theo (8). Together with their two doodles, Winnie and Teddy, their home is always full of laughter, activity, and love.
Chris and Stacey’s journey began in high school, where Chris was a baseball player and Stacey, a brilliant and kind head drum major, saw the potential in him. “She believed in me even when I didn’t see it in myself,” Chris recalls. The couple married in college, and this year they celebrated their 21st anniversary.
Both Chris and Stacey have strong educational roots. Chris earned a Bachelors and Masters in Christian Ministry from Abilene Christian University, while Stacey earned her degree in Elementary Education from the same school. Professionally, Stacey taught 3rd grade before dedicating herself full-time to managing the household and children, while Chris has pursued an entrepreneurial career, founding Mercy Project and the BCS Marathon, authoring three books, speaking professionally, and teaching at Texas A&M for over a decade. In February, Chris will take on the role of Director of the Texas A&M Financial Planning Clinic.
The Field children are busy and accomplished in their own right. Micah, a sophomore at College Station High School, loves music and theatre, and recently fulfilled a dream role as Elsa in Frozen: The Musical. Beckett, in 8th grade, is a multi-sport athlete with a passion for college and professional sports, while Lincoln, 10, thrives on baseball as both a pitcher and first baseman for the Brazos Valley Bucks. Youngest son Theo, 8, is an energetic explorer, trying everything from basketball to karate to Ninja Warrior, always keeping up with his older siblings.
Family traditions are a big part of life for the Fields. They love traveling internationally, spending time with their extended family in Bryan–College Station, and creating special birthday and holiday traditions for their children. Locally, they enjoy wings ‘n more, Gringos, Napa Flats, and 40 Tempura, with occasional date nights at Primrose Path. Outdoors, they love the neighborhood’s open spaces—kids playing sports together, fishing at the lake, and running the trails.
The Field family is also committed to giving back. Through Mercy Project, their church, and international trips—like to Ghana—they teach their children the importance of service and community. "Of the many things we hope to teach our children, at the top of the list would be that the world is changed in the small moments we choose to show up and love our neighbors both locally and globally," Chris shares.
What makes Indian Lakes special for the Fields is the sense of safety, openness, and neighborly spirit. Chris says, “We love seeing kids outside together, playing sports and games, just like we did growing up. It’s a place that feels like home for our family.”
Whether running, fishing, traveling, or giving back, the Field family embodies a lifestyle of love, adventure, and connection—rooted in family and community.
